I’ve worked in the advertising industry for 25+yrs, spending my early career in large London media agencies; Lowe Howard-Spink, The Media Business, MindShare & MediaCom.  I worked on brands such as Tesco, Wickes, Ford, RAC, Audi, Ruddles Brewery, HMRC/COI, etc etc.
 
I relocated to Devon and launched Bluesoup in 2008, I wanted to bring my big agency experience and offer something truly special for brands both big and small. Since then the agency has grown from strength to strength with our team of 12 talented, strategic, creative and insightful individuals. 
 
I continue to head the agency and get involved in the creative and solutions process, keeping our fabulous clients and team happy.

Bluesoup’s Directors maintain a direct and hands on approach with the clients of the agency. On a RAR survey, Bluesoup averaged in excess of 90% for client satisfaction, we don’t roll in the big guns to win business then walk away and leave you with junior staff.

Edukid is a UK charity that helps children living in acute poverty abroad. Support is given through educational scholarships, therapy and long term sustainable, self sufficient initiatives.

Edukid currently support around 3,500 children in Asia, Africa, The Middle East and South America.

Edukid also run a UK Schools Global Citizenship Programme for UK schools. This links students in the UK with their counterparts in Edukid projects, providing a two way learning platform. The programme links heavily into the UN Sustainable Development Goals and seeks to educate and empower a new generation to explore their own identity and role in the world.

I was brought into strengthen the operational Board and develop the media offering outside of the core classified press competency.  I worked closely with the 10 offices on their key clients, on pitches and on developing their media strategy and media planning skills.  I also worked hard to establish stronger relationships with key media suppliers as well as introducing creativity to planning, together with an awareness and understanding of accountability. The highlights of my time at Artavia were using 10,000 daffodils to prove a point for Cornwall Tourist Board in London and sending pots of clotted cream through the post for a cottage agency...(email me if you'd like to hear more!)

Brought back (having been at Media Business previously) to work on the newly won VW/Audi account as a result of previous motors experience.  I headed up the media strategy & planning for the Audi account on a day to day basis.  Whilst at MediaCom I was on the successful pitch teams for the Greene King, RBS/NatWest, Met Police & HMRC accounts and went onto manage the media strategies for these.  Also helped develop the annual staff training programme run by Associate Directors.

Whilst at MindShare I worked across the complete car range, commercial vehicles and Motability as well as helping execute and maximise the sponsorships of the Millennium Dome and Rugby World Cup.  I worked on the launch of the Ford Focus and Ford Cougar and for both developed innovative solutions involving readers of Top Gear Magazine whereby we took readers to Le Mans or held a track day with Tiff Needell.

I've been in Toronto this week, meeting with some of our brand partners, and I managed to pop into Amazon unBoxed whilst I was here.

One thing seems obvious to me here. Canada’s healthcare e-commerce journey is following a very familiar pattern.

We have seen this time and time again, in more established Amazon markets.

The same behavioural shifts are happening:

→ Self-care adoption accelerating
→ Consumer-led purchasing is becoming the norm
→ Amazon is quietly becoming one of the most important channels for health brands

In other markets, the brands that moved early did more than grow. They defined their categories. They built consumer loyalty, set advertising standards, and brand positioning before the category became crowded.

That same opportunity is here in Canada right now. We know it will not stay open indefinitely.

This year marks 10 years at WP World Products. It honestly feels like yesterday. 🤯 

Back then, I had landed a grad job in finance straight out of university. It was a privileged and sensible position.

However, something did not quite sit right. Not lost exactly, just not convinced that the obvious route was the right one for me.

So I asked my parents for a year.

The conversation happened at our dining room table. No deck. No projections. Just belief and a willingness to figure things out properly.

When I stepped into WP, founded by my mum a few years earlier, it was still just the two of us. Early days. Packing boxes in a small room. Learning in real time.

What began as a small operation has since grown into a global business supporting healthcare brands as they adapt to a digital world.

If you had told me then that we would partner with leading names in healthcare, helping them connect more effectively with patients and consumers, I would have struggled to imagine any of it.

It has honestly been an incredible journey, but it has not been about loving every single moment. It has been about wanting to stay in it, even when things got hard... and they did. That made the difference.

Over the years, WP has taught me more about myself than any role ever could. Where I am strongest. Where I fall short. When to push. When to listen. And what actually matters to me.

Most of all, I am grateful. For the foundation my courageous mum created. For the exceptional team that has shaped what WP is today... and for the opportunity to keep building.

Ten years in, the milestone matters less than the direction.

There is still so much to do.

If you are unsure about your next step, clarity does not always come first.

Sometimes commitment does.

Without doubt... the most underrated channel in OTC marketing is still INFLUENCER.

However, most brands are entering this using the classic "Beauty Playbook."

Beauty sells aspiration. OTC sells TRUST.

The pattern we have seen globally for years:

1) An OTC brand tries one influencer.

2) Results are "lukewarm."

3) They decide “Influencer isn't for us.”

4) They go back to their traditional marketing.

The fix? The TRUST LAYER strategy.

Take a Children’s Cold & Flu Relief launch. Instead of just hiring a "Big Name Doctor" because they have 1M followers (who might not even be parents), you layer the voices:

LAYER 1: The Practitioner (The Logic). A community pharmacist who speaks to parents daily. They explain active ingredients and safety.

LAYER 2: The Parent (The Empathy). Filming at 2:00 AM with a sick toddler. No ring lights. Just the raw reality of needing a solution that works.

LAYER 3: The Educator (The Utility). A "home-hack" creator showing how to use a dosing syringe for a fussy child.

BUT WHAT ABOUT REGULATION? This is where OTC brands panic. The secret is the COMPLIANCE SANDBOX:

NO "SCRIPTS": Use a Medically-Approved Claim Library.

THE RED LIST: Non-negotiable banned words (e.g., "Cure").

THE GUARDRAIL: 100% MLR/Legal review before anything goes live. No exceptions.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Stop looking for a "viral moment." Start building a trust ecosystem.

OTC consumers need to hear the same message from different types of authority before they open the medicine cabinet.
