How I use storytelling to get more clients

Most people use storytelling but don't understand what actually makes a story work.

The most common mistakes?

No end.
No point.
No tension.
No transformation.

Here's exactly how I do it differently.

I used to post content that was purely educational. 

Useful? Yes. 
But it wasn't converting.

A story that generates leads has 5 elements:

1. A powerful opening that stops the scroll
   
2. Specificity in the hook
   "I gained 10k followers in 3 months" beats "I grew my audience" every time
   
3. A clear transformation — before and after. 
   Where you started, where you ended up
   
4. Tension 
   Something that almost derailed the outcome, and how you pushed through
   
5. A lesson at the end — this is what makes it valuable, not just entertaining
   
Throughout every story, I blend in my services, my work, my client outcomes.

Not as a pitch. 
As receipts.

This builds pattern recognition over time...

People start associating you with results, and start trusting you before they ever reach out.

How to write better content than most people on LinkedIn
 
I've been writing for a while.
 
I can look at a LinkedIn post, an email, or a landing page and tell you in seconds why it's not working.
 
The biggest mistake beginners make? 
They can't make their ideas interesting to other people.

And I get that not everyone has years of experience to spot what works and what doesn't immediately.

And as this is not a full content creation course, I only have so much space to explain.

Here's a blueprint you can use today to write better content:
 
→ Consume good content — podcasts, books, posts from creators who inspire you, industry news. You can't write well without this.
 
→ Capture your ideas — save them somewhere you can organise and revisit them. FlowOS is a great tool for this, but any system works, as long as you actually use it.
 
→ Build 5 content pillars — topics you constantly talk about that are relevant to your brand. 

Use them two ways: one educational angle, one storytelling angle.
 
→ Identify pain points and benefits — for every idea, ask yourself why this matters to someone other than you. Train your brain to think audience-first.
 
→ Always have a clear "why" — don't just share an idea, give it context. Your audience needs to understand why it's relevant to them, not just what it is.
 
Then practice. 
Consistently. 
Until it becomes second nature.
 
Most people won't do this. 
They'll keep posting and wondering why nothing lands.
 
The ones who do become the creators everyone else is saving for inspiration.

I meticulously edited and cross-verified the facts, ensuring the utmost accuracy. 

This becomes important because the narratives of people here have always been misunderstood and lesser known for a long time.

For this book, it's limited to the events of a War.

That led to things that wars bring.

Most people try to manufacture stories on here.

Failure story.
Growth story. 
“Here are 3 lessons I learned” story.

But the best stories are never manufactured.

They already exist.

In March 2024, I travelled to a remote village in my hometown to meet the last pot-maker of the Monpa community.

No students.
No apprentices.
No one learning the craft.

When he’s gone, the craft may disappear with him.

So I decided to document his story.

The result is a short documentary called “Grandpa, What’s Your Name?”

It went on to win Best Documentary at a Arunachal film festival and Kodaikanal International film festival. 

It went on and was recognised at multiple national and international film festivals - including the New York Independent film festival.

I finally released it publicly the other day.
