I glimpsed the future after chatting with Ahmed Abdelrahman, CTO of Bayzat, the region’s top HR tech platform.

A great CTO doesn’t just follow the ball, they see where it’s going. 

Which is easier said than done in these bizarre times.

After our chat, it was clear that Ahmed has the key traits needed from tech leaders in this phase:

1- They know old playbooks won’t work anymore

They’re rewriting new ones like scientists; running experiments with AWS and
Amazon Bedrock to measure real ROI and testing innovations gradually with their 3,000+ clients.

2- They work backwards from the customer

They know that the underlying technology isn’t what matters, it’s how it helps solve a business problem for the end user. And if it doesn’t, then it shouldn't be forced as the solution.

3- They understand culture and user psychology

Every organization is a bit different, and how they navigate different company structures, cultures, and technical maturities across regions is key to providing scalable value. 

SO...I’m working on some exciting new content with Ahmed and other key technical leaders in the region, exploring how these pioneers are striking the balance between autonomy and control when integrating agents into their platforms for this brave new world.

La historia del pollo - II Parte.

Quién diría que un pollo de plástico diera para tanto. Por ese wiki wiki conocí a Camilo Romero García de Hanbai.io, lo invitamos como speaker a ProyectoBiz (la comunidad profesional de latinos que llevo con mi amiga Dalal Saab) y, la semana pasada fue el último encuentro del año.

Camilo lo hizo fantástico... compartió errores y aprendizajes de emprender con Hanbai.io. Aquí van mis takeways de su charla: 

▪️ No demorarse en despedir. Cuando no hay fit cultural o de performance, posponer los despidos quema tiempo y energía.... y cuando estás bootstrapping cada mes cuenta.
 
▪️ Tener expertise en gestión financiera. Sin un perfil financiero al inicio les faltó predictibilidad de caja. La lección fue hacer outsourcing con un experto en finanzas. 

▪️ Un gran “trabajador” no siempre será buen manager. Ser un crack vendiendo no quiere decir que puedes liderar personas. Es importante evaluar las leadership skills y acompañar la transición con formación y mentoring.
 
▪️ Salir con un MVP imperfecto al mercado. Es necesario validar pronto e iterar con clientes reales.

▪️ No emprender solo. Además del know-how, hace falta un círculo emocional que te sostenga y te apoye. 

▪️ Contratar perfiles polivalentes que tengan como norte la cultura de excelencia y poca jerarquía.

▪️ Crear procesos y herramientas para escalar ágilmente.

Camilo es resiliente, laser-focused y transmite una calma bru-tal. Respondió todas las preguntas con mucha empatía y trasladó su experiencia del mundo startupero a las realidades de los asistentes que se mueven en otros ecosistemas.

Long story short... desde hace varios meses, para celebrar algo bueno aprieto un pollo de plástico que hace wiki wiki. Esto lo aprendí de Hanbai.io (nuestros ex-vecinos en Talent Garden) que celebran así cada venta.
