Ever had an ad “fail”… and felt that little stomach drop when the client messages you? 😬

Here’s the thing I wish every UGC creator + creative strategist understood:

Your job isn’t just to make every ad a winner.
Your job is to make ads that inform your next steps.

Because not every ad is meant to pop off. But every ad is data.

And data turns into tangible next steps (aka the thing that keeps clients confident in you, even when performance is meh 🫤).

When an ad underperforms, don’t label it a “loser.”

Label it a clue. Here’s how I break it down:

1️⃣: If ROAS is low on a creative you were bullish on, look at creative-related KPIs.

ROAS is the outcome. Creative KPIs are the diagnosis. Here’s what I mean… 👀

✅ Thumb Stop Rate (TSR) high?
That means the hook worked. Next step: replicate the hook style, but strengthen the narrative so people stay + convert.

✅ Click Through Rate (CTR) high but bounce rate is wild?
That’s a journey mismatch. They wanted what the ad promised… then the landing page broke trust. Next step: align the ad message with the first 3 seconds + headline + LP structure.

✅ View-Through Rate (VTR) drops right after the hook?
Scroll-stopping hook… but maybe clickbaity or confusing. Next step: keep the stopping power, but make the payoff clearer within seconds 3–5.

2️⃣: Remember, the brand paid TWICE. Your job is to make sure the money invested isn’t looked at as money set on fire. 🗑️

They paid for:
	1.	The creation of the ad ($$$-$,$$$)
	2.	Spend ($$$-$,$$$)

Meaning, they’re likely $,$$$ in the hole. So if the ad doesn’t work and you shrug? That money becomes a full loss. 👎

But if you extract takeaways? It becomes a strategic investment.

3️⃣: Confidence is part of the deliverable.

Clients don’t panic when performance dips if you don’t panic. The highest-paid creators/strategists aren’t magical performance wizards 24/7—they’re the ones who can say:

“Here’s what happened. Here’s what it means. Here’s what we do next.” 💫

That’s what builds trust and long-term retainers.
