We're hiring at Obvi: VP / Director of Finance & Operations 

We have an immediate opening for a VP of Finance & Ops, and given the circumstances, we need someone who can step in fast and own this from day one. We want to move fast for the right person. 

Obvi is an 8 figure CPG/supplement brand sold DTC and in 17,000 major retail doors (Walmart, Amazon, and growing). Knowing both sides of the coin is important in this role. 

🫵 What you'd own:

→ Full financial model — P&L, projections, cash flow forecasting, weekly cash windows
→ Board & investor communications 
→ Monthly close, AP/AR, bookkeeping, tax coordination
→ Inventory & supply chain ops — PO management, 3PL coordination, lead time tracking
→ Vendor relationships and contract negotiations
→ DTC margin analysis and promotion guardrails
→ Multi-entity finance (Obvi + Chew On This)

🫵 What I'm looking for:

→ Someone who's done this before in CPG, DTC, or ecommerce — not their first rodeo
→ You can build and maintain a financial model, not just read one
→ Comfortable presenting to investors and board members
→ Operationally sharp, this isn't a sit-in-Excel-all-day role
→ Self-starter who thrives remote, we're fully remote, no office
→ Loyal, wants to help lead Obvi to its eventual exit.

Comp: $150K–$225K OTE based on experience + Equity

I recently learned a stat that really blew my mind: on average, only 39% of customers opt into marketing at checkout on Shopify.

That's 6 out of 10 buyers you already paid to acquire who will never receive a single email or SMS from you. 

And since subscribed customers are worth 2.4x more in LTV, that gap isn't a small leak. 

For a typical Shopify Plus brand, it amounts to ~$65K/month in unrealized LTV. That's $780K a year sitting on the table if more brands just paid attention to how they handle marketing consent at checkout. 

By optimizing this structural issue, Ancestral Supplements went from 77% to 93% email opt-in, which meant $300K in incremental revenue.

I’ll be the first to admit I hadn’t given it much thought before I learned all this. 

Like many other founders, we just accepted Shopify’s marketing opt-in default settings and called it a day.  

But now I realize that this passive decision can actually cap retention revenue every single month. 

And the worst part? It doesn’t show in any dashboard. So you can’t really tell what you’re missing out on.
