𝗡𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗢𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗯𝘆 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗘𝗻𝗱? 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗸 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Elon Musk once again sparked discussion with a bold prediction. He says that programming as a profession may disappear by the end of this year. In his view, even compilers could become unnecessary. AI would generate optimized machine code directly from an idea, without the usual stages such as writing code or undergoing reviews.

Should we take this very seriously? Probably not...
Yet, Musk has an interesting pattern. He is often very wrong about timing, sometimes by years. But at the same time, he is often quite 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆.

So it might be interesting to come back to this statement in a few years and see how close he was.

When AI agents are rewarded for 𝗵𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗣𝗜𝘀, ~𝟰𝟬% 𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 rules to achieve their targets.

This is quite controversial. huh?
Reveals at least two things:
1️⃣ A perfect "jailbreak" vulnerability
2️⃣ A powerful insight about human management, not just AI

Turns out, KPI obsession creates the same problems whether you're managing algorithms or people. Maybe the lesson here isn't about AI at all. 🤔

𝑨𝑰 𝑾𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝑨𝒖𝒕𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝑴𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝑳𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒔 𝑪𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒑𝒆𝒓

A new report 𝐴𝐼 𝑊𝑜𝑛'𝑡 𝐴𝑢𝑡𝑜𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑀𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝐿𝑒𝑔𝑎𝑙 𝑆𝑒𝑟𝑣𝑖𝑐𝑒𝑠 𝐶ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑝𝑒𝑟 from Princeton and Harvard researchers (one co-authored 𝐴𝐼 𝑆𝑛𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝑂𝑖𝑙) makes a case worth paying attention to, even outside the US.

𝑻𝑳;𝑫𝑹: 𝑨𝑰 𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒓𝒆𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒍 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒔.

Three barriers explain why.
1️⃣ 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
In the US, Unauthorized Practice of Law rules expose AI legal products to lawsuits. LegalZoom was sued for automating trademark documents. Upsolve was sued for training volunteers to help with debt cases. AI could handle many of these tasks. The law often blocks it.

2️⃣ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞
This is the strongest point. In an adversarial system, if both sides get more productive, the advantage cancels out. When discovery went digital, costs were supposed to fall, instead, lawyers started flooding each other with more documents to raise the opponent's review costs. AI makes this easier. More briefs, more arguments, more noise. The output grows. The outcome often stays the same.
I see it already. I once sent three clear arguments to settle a dispute. Twenty minutes later: ten AI-generated counterarguments that looked solid but avoided the core issue. The client was pleased, their lawyer fought hard. But did it move us closer to a resolution?

That distinction matters. 𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐏𝐔𝐓𝐒 are documents produced. 𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐒 are results for the client. AI excels at the first. Clients pay for the second.

3️⃣ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐤
Even if AI drives task costs to near zero, judges still need time, courts are already overloaded, and litigation volumes could grow 2–5x according to the authors. Lower cost per task doesn't mean lower total cost for the system.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩: regulatory sandboxes (Arizona and Utah are already experimenting), more judges, AI-supported arbitration, and procedural rules that limit adversarial escalation.
AI will change legal work, that's obvious! The real question is whether it improves outcomes or just inflates outputs.
