The answer.... THEMSELVES. 

I talk a lot about it below and use a lot of buzzwords but in summary... 
⭐  The brands that are winning and gaining market share are the brands that can adapt. It is that simple. 
⭐  In paid media there are 3 opportunities: creative, data and diversification. Brands that can't adapt, get stuck in loops where there are "guardians" (mum and dad) of "brand messaging", "data usage" and people that need endless proposals before their teams can do anything. 
⭐ The brands that trust their team to do things are going to learn quicker and fail faster.

January is off to a hectic start in the world of paid media. 
Lots of announcements, but what do they really mean for you? 

Google - ECOM updates:
1️⃣ UCP (Universal Commerce Protocol) rollout that works across the full shopping journey. Allows shoppers to buy direct from product listings rather than visiting your site. 
2️⃣ Business agent that allows shoppers to engage with you from search. 
3️⃣ New data attributes in Merchant Center that encourage product discovery in AI overviews. (First clear one is direct offers)

💜 How confident are you in the quality of data in your Merchant Center? 

Open AI updates: 
1️⃣ Ads are being tested in the US market (think free versions of chat GPT, relevancy and separation from organic results)

So in a nutshell. The actions are clearer for Google at the moment, but both updates tie back to what search advertising in particular has always been centred around - be relevant, be authentic and have good data.
