Companies are cutting senior people at a record pace. These are the taste makers who are being let go for efficiency, because "AI can replace them".

That means fewer people who know what good looks like.

Meanwhile, every team is being pushed to use AI to move faster and do more with less. And I'm sitting here watching the bottom fall out of this strategy.

Because bad AI output moves downstream. 
The writer got their task done faster! But now the editor has to be more meticulous. 
The executive pumped out thoughts in 10 minutes! But someone has to fix it before it tanks their credibility.
A junior dev wrote thousands of lines of code in minutes! But that QA better catch the hallucinated libraries and security issues.

AI slop travels until someone with standards stops it. And at some companies, that person just got laid off.

The leaders left were likely never taught about sloppy AI output: how to spot it, coach against it, or build the guardrails to keep it from getting out into the wild.

If those leaders aren't using AI well themselves, they have no shot at knowing when their team isn't.

The companies gutting their senior ranks while mandating AI adoption are about to find out exactly how expensive that tradeoff was.
