I established a menswear business on Wine St., Sligo in 2002. we offered branded menswear, casual, suiting and footwear including accessories. we went from scratch to offering international brand names including Calvin Klein Jeans, Levi's, Base London, Bertoni, Van Gils Suiting, John Rocha Suiting but we also sourced niche brands such as Dutch denim brand Cast Iron...

From a financial point of view i grew the business from a start point of €0 in April 2002 to a turnover of over €750,000.00 for the financial year 2006. What i take out of this is not the monetary figures that were achieved as exceptional as they were, but the business lessons that are now invaluable to me going forward.

Within a year i was a crucial member of the buying team and would often be given budgets and freedom to buy from international brands in their offices and stockrooms all over the country and attend trade shows in Europe such as 40 Degrees in London to Bread and Butter in Spain and Germany. But with this responsibility came the need to make sure brand performance was monitored and KPI's were known and acted upon.
