Ever noticed how some #linkbuilding partnership guidelines are completely nonsensical?

They ruin partnerships + expose you don't actually know SEO.

You connect. Build rapport. Deliver their link first. Then they hit you with:

- We only link from our Medium acc, not our blog.
- Send us a different domain to link to.-
- Your link goes live in a year.

Guidelines that magically appear AFTER you've done the work.

The worst part?
The link builder sending you these guidelines agrees they make no sense.

Because these aren't written by SEOs, they're created by general managers/editors with zero SEO-backed reasoning.

The link builders executing this? They know it's broken. But saying so means risking their job.

So partnerships die. Numbers tank. And they take the blame.

Here’s what your link-building guidelines should actually be:

☞ Natural placement - no intro/outro stuffing
☞ Quality baseline - spam score, toxicity, competition alignment
☞ Contextual relevance - link fits naturally and actually adds value
☞ Editorial integration - no forced paragraph inserts, unless listicle 
☞ No grey niches - avoid linking to casino/iGaming/crypto/adult (unless you're in the same niche)

That's it.

Follow Google's actual rules, not made-up policies that exist because "you felt so."

Marc Andreessen, as a young software engineer, basically winged the default #hyperlink color and ended up creating one of the most user-friendly UX standards on the entire Web.

Meanwhile, today, companies spend months debating whether a CTA should be slightly more cyan or slightly more teal…

Fun fact:
1989-1991: Tim Berners-Lee invents HTML + hyperlinks (with no default colors yet).
1993: Marc Andreessen’s (later co-founder of Andreessen Horowitz)  Mosaic sets blue links + purple visited links, simply because early monitors displayed them more clearly.

That tiny decision ended up shaping the entire visual language of the modern Internet. Also funny that links turn purple after you’ve “read” (red) them :D
