Anton Golub is Chief Business Officer of Freedx, a next-gen centralized crypto exchange built for crypto newcomers and experienced traders.

Anton founded & served as CEO of flovtec, Swiss market-maker providing liquidity solutions to digital asset exchanges, token issuers & protocols and offering investment products for professional & institutional investors. 

Anton is also a co-founder of Trust Square AG, a pre-eminent blockchain technology hub located in Zurich's financial district. 

Anton co-founded Lykke Corp, a blockchain-powered exchange to trade all assets with zero fees, where he served as a Chief Science Officer. 

Prior to Lykke, he worked as a quantitative researcher at Olsen Ltd (successor to Olsen & Associates, founded in 1985), a hedge fund that pioneered the field of high-frequency trading. As a Marie Curie Research Fellow at the Alliance Manchester Business School, Anton worked on high-frequency trading, market microstructure and flash crashes. 

In 2011, he was invited to participate in the Foresight Project - The Future of Computer Trading in Financial Markets, an international project on algorithmic trading funded by HM Treasury in the UK. 

Anton has also been involved in several research projects backed by the European Union (EU) and was on the Supervisory Board for the BigDataFinance project funded through Horizon 2020. He has co-authored 13 academic papers and two books.

China has been banning crypto since 2013 - Central Bank now says all crypto activity is illegal

I've been in crypto industry since 2013.
I've seen 10 times China banning Bitcoin or crypto.

PBOC says crypto remain illegal in China and all crypto business activities are classified as illegal.

Central Bank says stablecoins fail to meet KYC/AML standards.

China sees stablecoins as high risk for money laundering, fraudulent fundraising, and illegal cross-border flow.

Instead of allowing public to access crypto, China is focusing on CBDC (e-CNY). 

Same as in Europe, China wants to push digital yuan pilots and use in public-sector payments.

Adoption started in streets, not Wall Street.

You got scared and sold because Bitcoin dropped 30%? What if it goes down to 10k? In the meantime, sovereigns, states and companies are stacking harder than ever. 

These big players buy dips because they understand the math, and don't listen to the analysts authoring these clickbait stories.
Bitcoin's fixed supply meets endless fiat printing. Geopolitical shifts push for diversification. And with US Bitcoin reserves on the horizon, global FOMO is real.

1️⃣ Texas became the first US state to allocate $10 million to Bitcoin, buying through BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust as prices dipped below $90,000. 
2️⃣ El Salvador added $100 million worth of Bitcoin, snapping up over 1,000 BTC and pushing their holdings to 7,474 BTC. President Bukele ignores IMF pressure and bets on long-term upside for their economy.
3️⃣ Abu Dhabi Investment Council tripled its stake in the same Bitcoin ETF to over $518 million, holding nearly 8 million shares. Sovereign funds like this see Bitcoin as a portfolio diversifier, especially with MENA's energy wealth funding the shift.

The message is clear: short-term noise does not stop the big guys. 

I have been in fintech and crypto for over 8 years, closing deals across Europe and the UAE. 

This adoption wave confirms what I know: Bitcoin's 100 trillion-dollar potential is unstoppable and short-term pullbacks are just opportunities for the prepared.

In 2018 I walked away from a “safe” career because it simply stopped making sense.

For five years I had the kind of path people applaud (and my parents were happy with!). Licensed tax advisor working in a good Polish law firm. Solid salary, clear progression.

But the tax regulations kept changing and every week brought a new update. Clients wanted certainty, and I kept giving answers that felt incomplete.
At some point I realised I could not imagine doing this for the rest of my life.

So I quit. 
No plan B.
Just a decision that staying would cost more than leaving.

What followed changed everything.

I fell straight into the startup world and went risk-on. First in marketing, then HR, then operations. Eventually into co-founding a hardware wallet company at a time when very few people believed crypto deserved real infrastructure and make any sense.

Suddenly my life expanded.
I travelled more than I ever thought I would.
I got featured in the biggest media outlets out there.
I sat with founders who were building products that actually mattered.
I worked on technologies that pushed the world forward instead of reacting to endless rule changes.
I moved to Dubai where the tech revolution happens in front of your eyes.

And along that path I discovered Bitcoin in a way that reshaped how I think about value, freedom and the future.

Looking back, the decision everyone called risky turned out to be the most important one.

The lesson is simple.
You don’t find your real path until you’re willing to walk away from the one that isn’t yours anymore.

If something feels done, listen to it. The moment you walk away is often the moment life finally opens up.

It was great to catch up with Augment.org community yesterday for first Dubai Summit and IRL event with alumnis coming from the whole region!

I met entrepreneurs from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and Dubai expats with a growth mindset and hunger to learn.

To be honest, it seems to me that Ariel Renous and Roy Wellner are determined founders with a simple yet powerful vision: to materially improve business education! And they are doing a fantastic job.

I didn’t expect an online MBA to beat all the “free knowledge” we scroll through every day. But it did.

When I started the Augment.org MBA in May, I was skeptical.
How much value can an online program really add when the entire internet already pretends to be a business school?

Turns out, a lot more than I imagined.

What really surprised me, was the teaching style. The instructors weren’t “textbook professionals.”
They were operators, people like the founders of YouTube or Waze, explaining complex ideas in a brutally simple, experience-first way. No fluff, no theory. Just clarity from people who’ve actually done it.

And then the community hit me.

Even though the course was online, the first IRL Augment event in Dubai with over 170 attendees was a shock. Shortly after I met the guys behind though, Ariel Renous and Roy Wellner, it became clear that this is the secret to their success - real care and focus on their community and clients.

Today, I wrapped up my Master of Business Administration (MBA) with Augment Business School.

And the biggest lesson stays the same:
Surround yourself with people who force you to level up. Everything else follows.

Now it’s time to put all of this to work.

‼️ Top 5 ways to build a brand strong enough that you get invited everywhere (number 4 will shock you!) in UAE

1️⃣ Show up before you’re invited
Conferences are great, but real access happens in the small rooms and regular community events. Be there even when your name’s not on the flyer. People notice.

2️⃣ Talk about what you know, not what everyone else is saying
If your take stands out, even slightly, that’s enough to spark a DM or an invite. 

3️⃣  Add value behind the scenes
Make intros, share contacts and help fellow builders solve a problem. Be helpful and bring value, as quiet reputation builds fast in this city (and its much smaller than it seems to be).

4️⃣ Have a famous partner aka Maria Frackowiak and be a humble 1+ 😀 
Amongst all the methods, that’s probably the most effective. Unfortunately, famous partners are scarce and hard to find, but once you forge such a „strategic partnership”, you can forget all the other points.

5️⃣ "Package" yourself like an investor
In UAE there is still much more projects looking for capital than investors actually deploying, especially early-stage. If you tend to be even a small capital allocator and position yourself as one, your odds of getting invited to all sorts of meetings increase dramatically.

What's one tactic that's worked for you in networking?

Investor relations isn’t about chasing money. It’s about solving THEIR problem.

When I first started raising, I thought it was all about the pitch: slick deck, clean metrics, and a flawless story. "Sell the dream, close the round" as they say.

But here’s what I learned the hard way:
You don’t “convince” great investors. You align with them.

The best conversations? They didn’t feel like pitching, but solving a shared problem.

Because capital has a problem too, it needs a place to grow. And if you’ve got that vehicle you’re not asking for money. You’re offering ROI, access, and SOLUTION.

But here’s what most founders forget:
Investors are still human.
They don’t write checks because your CAC looks good.
They write checks because they trust you.
And people only jump on a journey when they trust the driver.

Here are the investor strategies I find actually working:

✅ Constant communication, even when you’re not raising
✅ Pull > push - strong signal attracts smart capital
✅ Make it a partnership, not a pitch
✅ Chemistry matters, so if the vibe’s off, don’t fake it

Raising capital isn’t dating, it’s a power couple game.

And if you’re doing it right, you don’t just get the check. You get someone who wants to see you win and will help you along the way even when you lose.

One careless copy-paste, and $1.25 million vanishes. Cointelegraph just reported over $282 million stolen in address poisoning scams this year alone.

Let me explain: scammers exploit "dust" transfers, those tiny unsolicited amounts like 0.0001 ETH, sent from fake addresses that mimic your real ones by matching the start and end characters while flipping the middle. This plants imposters in your wallet history, tricking you into sending funds to them next time you grab a "recent" address.

Here are my straightforward prevention steps:
• Verify the entire address every time, not just the ends. Jot it in a notepad or use ENS for trusted contacts.
• Avoid copying from recent transaction history. Stick to secure sources like your saved contacts.
• Always test with a small amount first, say $10 to $50, confirm it lands, then send the rest.
• Turn on whitelisting in your wallets and exchanges to restrict outgoing addresses.
• Layer in tools like Web3 Antivirus for real-time alerts.

Most losses stem from user oversight, even as regulations improve. Stay sharp to protect your operations.

If you think you’re too experienced to fall for a scam, let me tell you about the moment I almost did.

A couple of weeks ago someone from a profile associated with Coinbase Ventures reached out on Twitter and invited me to appear on a brand-new Coinbase podcast series. It looked legitimate, the tone matched, the branding matched and nothing immediately raised any red flags. I was excited, of course, but also doing my best to stay cautious.

The conversation quickly moved over to Telegram, which made everything feel even more real. Inside the group there were several high profile industry people chatting in a very relaxed, familiar way. They referenced previous episodes, joked with each other, even thanked the hosts for great recordings. The entire environment was engineered to make me believe I had just stepped into a genuine inner circle. It felt natural. 

When it was finally my turn, the so-called tech team jumped on a call to brief me. They explained they had recently partnered with a dedicated recording software provider based in China and that I needed to install this new tool before joining the session. It was presented as a routine step. Nothing to question. Just follow the instructions so we can “get started quickly.”

And that was the moment something finally felt wrong.
Coinbase using an obscure Chinese recording tool instead of the standard Riverside or Zoom setup that literally every major podcast depends on? That didn’t add up. 

I ended the call immediately and started digging. After just a few minutes of checking the links, the software name and the profiles involved, it became painfully clear that I had been one click away from installing a malware package designed to drain wallets on my device. 

What shocked me most is how convincing the whole setup was.
Scammers today don’t just fake logos or send clumsy phishing links. They build full social environments, believable group chats, coordinated conversations and perfectly timed trust signals. It’s a psychological attack, not a technical one.

And it is happening every single day.
To builders.
To investors.
To founders juggling multiple conversations at once.
People who are not careless but simply overloaded.

So here is the lesson I walked away with.
Never install any software you didn’t directly verify.
Never download anything during a call, especially when someone tries to rush you.
Never let flattery or urgency override your security instincts.
