Helped mentor a class of 30 students in the cohort below me as they took the first of two research courses in my graduate program- hosting review sessions, and meeting with individuals and groups to discuss research concepts and their research studies.
Led a group of 4 peers over the course of one year in creating a research study exploring the sensory preferences of undergraduate students and their impact on GPA. Our manuscript is currently under review for publication, and in April of 2022 we presented a poster based on our work at the American Occupational Therapy Association's annual conference. 
Mentored a group of 4 students as they completed a research study investigating the normative data about sensory preferences of college students and their relationship with individual mindfulness. This manuscript is currently under review for publication.

Heres my story. 

In February of 2022, I decided to learn data analytics for fun. I created a Tik Tok account, and started documenting my journey to learn this new hobby (@anniesanalytics). 

Very soon, I realized that every day I was waking up and just wanting to write SQL, build visualizations, learn Python.... Work with data! So, I decided that once I finished graduate school (in Healthcare) in July, I was going to become a data analyst. 

Along the way, I have shared here and on Tik Tok everything I can about what it's like to learn data analytics, and how you can do it for free or at least very cheaply. I've shared about the ups and downs of job searching. I've even shared about how I have built a portfolio, and set myself up as a real analyst.

- Delivered a session to Blaze BYOB 2018 top 3 finalists on 'Design thinking for problem solving'. 
- Capturing client needs through surveys and team feedback on client issues arising. Applying design thinking and creative problem solving to attend to client needs. 
- Introduced weekly pulse surveys to capture employee feedback and concerns. Ran bi-monthly team meetings geared towards learning, connecting and playing. 
- Introduced employee peer-to-peer coaching and team accountability goal setting (GoalFest).

Customer Experience Manager

- Organized and moderated trainers' meetings to brainstorm on resolving program challenges while ensuring quality content preparation and delivery.
- Delivered a presentation to enlighten Yusudi employees on how they could use design thinking in their roles for effective problem-solving.

Life Skills Lead

- Introduced a new training technique which increased connection and interaction between the trainees.
- Initiated conversations with participants during Skill2Brand event and got 100% positive feedback from my employer and participants. 
- Introduced weekly personal coaching into the life skills program enabling trainees to get personalized support.
- Life skills training through a collaborative learning approach so learners can identify skills gaps and own their growth, proactively tackle challenges they face, and confidently market themselves.
- Created a visual of the program curriculum using post-its which simplified the curriculum development process. 
- Trained the class of 2016 Akirachix on professional development which resulted in the organization becoming paying a client from 2017.

Life Skills Trainer

Growing up with the familiar mantra of studying hard, earning good grades, and landing a stable job, I embarked on that journey like many from an African background. However, the third part took a bit longer—I landed my first job four years post-graduation. Yet, amidst this, I was always torn between the idea of pursuing passion and finding tangible rewards.

Taking a leap of faith with no formal training, I reached out to an organization that would change my trajectory forever. That initial interview, more of a heartfelt conversation, allowed me to showcase my genuine care for nurturing youths and transforming their strengths into meaningful opportunities.

In the last seven years, I've collaborated with renowned brands such as Yusudi, Fuzu, AkiraChix, and Mdundo, specializing in coaching and job preparation training. Throughout this journey, one skill stood out: self-learning. It was a skill I cultivated during my first job and one that I continue to refine to this day.

I firmly believe that curiosity, coupled with proactive learning, can unlock boundless potential. Currently, I'm immersing myself in the realm of learning design, striving understand how to craft solutions that not only educate but also drive behavioral change and yield tangible results. Impact is at the core of my work, and I'm eager to delve deeper into measuring the efficacy of the learning solutions I create.

Moreover, I'm excited about connecting with L&D professionals to glean insights from their experiences and further expand my understanding of this dynamic field.

When I'm not immersed in learning design, you might find me enjoying a strategic game of chess, unwinding with a swim, or embarking on my journey to master playing the piano by ear.
