In 2016, I had a young family and good job working for a great company. On paper everything looked perfect, but inside I felt like something was missing. After some deep reflection and a lot of personal development, I realized that I had been stagnant and the biggest thing missing was growth. 

So I went on a journey of personal reflection, growth, and development as well as exploration to truly own and build a career that I loved. My journey created the framework that became my first book, Own Your Career Own Your Life, which I published in November, 2020 to teach and inspire others to own their careers as well. 

Because while not everyone wants to be an entrepreneur (I love it for some reason), but I do believe that everyone wants to feel happy and fulfilled in their career and everyone can benefit from taking more ownership and being more proactive in building their careers as well as their personal brands. 

That book was a game-changer for me and I've gone on to follow my dreams of becoming a keynote speaker and trainer teaching people to own their careers and prepare for the future as well as build their personal brands to achieve more success. 

Today I speak in organizations around the world to improve engagement, performance, retention, and career mobility. I also love working with leaders to teach them how to support and coach their people to own their careers and achieve more. 

My newest book is called Own Your Brand, Own Your Career (with Mike Kim) and is a bestseller on Amazon.   And I host two popular podcasts:

How to never struggle with the cashflow again as an HR consultant. 

This is what i see happening in every HR business, money comes in… then it disappears… then you’re back to chasin.

good consultants, providing worldclass services, still feeling uncertain every month.

Its because you don’t have a predictable demand engine, everything depends on introduction.

Referrals feel great when they come.
But you can’t control when they come.

So one month is full. Next month is panic. and that's what feast or famine looks like. 

And that’s exactly what creates the cashflow swings.

Textbook coaches love to shout, “Pick a niche”, especially at HR and talent founders.

Honestly, it’s rubbish.

Your clients already tell you what they want to buy, listen closely.
They are buying an outcome, not your job title, not your label, not your niche.

So sell the outcome.

Build a repeatable promise, then deliver it through the 6 or 7 services you already know how to do well.

Your client gets results, you get a model that scales, and your revenue stops relying on one single offer.

Stop forcing a niche, start owning an outcome.

Stop marketing your CV.

I see so many brilliant People consultants making themselves harder to buy from, purely because they lead with everything.

Every service. Every skill. Every way they could help.

And the buyer feels overwhelmed.

Most people are not looking for “broad capability”. They are looking for relief from something that feels messy, urgent, risky, expensive, or quietly frustrating.

They buy a problem solved.

So instead of opening with, “I offer end-to-end support across multiple areas”, start here:

What is the one problem I want to be known for solving first?

That one decision gives people a clear reason to start a conversation with you, and a simple way to refer you.

If someone can’t describe you in one sentence, your message is still too wide.
