I'm a neuroscientist and professor of neurobiology and ophthalmology and, by courtesy, psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Stanford School of Medicine. My work focuses on brain development, function, and neuroplasticity.

I host the Huberman Lab podcast, where we discuss science and science-based tools for everyday life.

Academic lead for the following modules at this time: Ethics and Organisations: Leading Change: Contemporary Issues in Leadership: Personal and Organisational Resilience: HR Skills: Reflecting on Leadership: Developing managerial effectiveness. Roles included Curriculum designer for innovative work-based leadership degree for the airline industries; Programme Director for flexible combined honours;  Module Lead on a range of ethics, management and leadership modules.

Launched and directed Leadership South West, a £1.4million leadership development project on behalf of the South West Regional Development Agency. 
Based within the Centre for Leadership Studies at the University of Exeter I led outreach and partnerships across the 7 counties of the region. 
Designed and delivered Inspire, a European funded Women in Leadership programme. Launched and managed the IoD Chartered Director Development programme for the Southwest.  Responsible for the design and delivery of projects looking at cultural leadership, educational leadership, health leadership, public sector leadership. Responsible for the regional leadership and management skills strategy in partnership with key development agencies. 
A busy time,  all focussed on creating a better understanding of the importance of developing the leadership capacity within organisations across the region. The project went on to secure further funding and a second iteration of the regional work.

A member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) at Sidcot School,  my role included design and launch of Peace education, focussed on pedagogy and partnerships. I took the school through successful accreditation of the ASHOKA Changemaker School status. 
In the 2014/15 academic year in addition to peace education, I also led pastoral support with a focus on well being; social emotional learning and mental health. I enjoyed the privileged role of school counsellor, learning more about young people and their needs.

At first Morgan Burns which was a small private training provider delivering government contracts - bought out by the Corporate Services Group PLC in around 1997 and then Training for Tomorrow in 1998.  I ran the Bristol Centre from 1997 and became Regional Director in 1999. I looked after a range of UK and European commercial and publicly funded skills initiatives, moving to a national Operations Director role.

Worked in the Information department of Bristol Chamber of Commerce, which later became Business West. My role included providing a range of commercial research services and advice to business. I also ran the Avon Business Helpline providing enterprise and start up advice and sign posting to small businesses on behalf of Avon Training and Enterprise Council.

I enjoy working with leaders on questions that bring system change, organizational improvement, and personal growth.  With a background in both commercial and academic organisations, I am an experienced leader with strategic design, development, and delivery expertise.  

My specialism is social psychology, always looking at the human side of change. II hold a keen interest in communication, social influence, human flourishing, resilience, well-being, and personal effectiveness.  

I understand the people-side of strategy and what it takes to engage and persuade others within healthy, respectful relationships. 

I have sat on leadership teams and enjoy the strategic development of viable, relevant, and impactful organisations. 

As an educator, whether designing and delivering programmes, facilitating groups, or providing individual coaching,  I see transformation as the goal of learning.  

Taking learners on a transformation journey is the most rewarding experience, seeing them flourish and take up their full potential as ethical and responsible leaders is magical. 

I have studied systems and complexity and believe in the power of critical thinking, reflection, and inquiry as leadership superpowers. 

We don't need more answers, we need to be asking better questions -  taking time to listen and engaging in conversation.
