As Director of Marketing for Helium, I am responsible for SEO and Digital Ads. I bring in the best vendors for our marketing needs and I hire and train best-in-class marketers. 

I’m the one in charge of transforming Helium from a $10m agency to a $100m agency. In order to do that I improve existing SEO processes to make our clients more money. 

I take every success story and work with the marketing team to transform the story into a marketing asset. 

I work with the sales team to empower them to convert at a higher percentage by teaching them how to talk about each service in a way that positions Helium as a market leader while educating the client and prospects. 

I work with the creative team to build out landing pages for the various Helium brands. 

I am helping develop the AI SaaS product by providing direction on what to create.

My role at Wesley LLC, is to lead SEO, PR, and Content initiatives for Wesley Mortgage and for Wesley Financial Group. Content extend to email, blogs, video shorts, youtube videos, and social media. 

I hire content writers and I train writer to develop the skills to become managers in the realm of SEO and content. 

I find technology solutions and gather data to assist with C-suite executive initiatives. The difficult part of this task is to find a scaleable solution that is cheap or free. It helps being a total tech nerd.

I work with partner agencies to write content, migrate data, run surveys, conduct data studies, implement technical SEO fixes, and to build robust data reporting to track the ROI of our team's efforts.

I manage the reputation of Wesley LLC and monitor the brand through a variety of enterprise SaaS tools to make sure we are on top of anything negative. This tends to happen in the line of work that Wesley Financial is in.

I conduct SEO ROI reports for keyword clusters so c-suite execuatives can make informed decisions on how to invest the company's time and money. 

I conduct marketshare analysis reports for SEO to identify how much of the market belongs to each player and how much it would cost to catch up to any of the leaders. After identifying the market share, I predict (with scary accuracy) the backlink cost associated with the SEO campaign. My CMO knows exactly how much money he needs to spend and how much time it will take to achieve our SEO goals.

After analyzing every keyword in a cluster, I then prioritize the keywords by sorting them in 4 groups. I always target the easiest group first to build momentum that will be used to rank for the more difficult terms.

Lastly, I'm leading an initiative to create a tool that realtors and home shoppers will use in conjunction with tools like Zillow. It will be the most robust content in the space and its truly one of a kind in what it will accomplish.

Until LinkedIn's busted algorithm brings it up 3 weeks later.

But after that, no one will really care.

The problem with writing on LinkedIn is that its becoming the Instagram of early days. Do you feel the same?

Not surprising, but most people who reach out to me for help with SEO reach out to me via LinkedIn. 

Do you ever get that conflicted feeling - where you know being here helps, but you are equally averse to it?

Here's how I attempt to resolve this conflict today. And hopefully, for the near future.

By pairing two activities that I've been lazy to put time into.

This is a website of mine that was launched with everything done right. 

The only thing that wasn't there - consistency in managing it.

Let's go through how this website recovers and gains rank. While I tell everyone the story behind it, cool?

"If my impressions have gone up, then why has my average position gone down?"

If you're looking at your monthly reports and see a similar trend, here's why.

People do not search the same way. 

Your GSC will also record some really wild queries. It will definitely make you question why your webpage showed up for it. 🫠 

For example, here's the different ways that people search when they look for health supplements:

health capsules review
health supplements coupon code
health capsules price
health capsules for strength price
best supplements for strength
best supplements for health price

However, if search engines show your content for these queries, its because your website can offer something that satisfies the user's reason for searching.

And these ways of searching for information continue to grow, thanks to LLMs.

As these new queries get associated with your website, two things happen:

- Your website impressions go up.
- Your average position goes down (because the denominator, which is the ways people search just grew)

So, the drop in average position is really nothing to worry about. Its an indicator that your website is doing well, actually.

While you see a ~20% rise in impressions here, the targetted sections on this particular client's website showed over 55% increase in impressions. Which happens when you prioritise your SEO action items.

(Also, sitewide average position is a bad metric to track, but I see it across most client reports. If anything, your SEO agency should report the page-wise average position for more clarity.)

Going back to the website, this is a mistake I shouldn't have made.

What does "Premium Digital Marketers for Growth" really mean, on your homepage?

Does it indicate your experience across specific categories?
Does it showcase your specific capabilities within the field of digital marketing?

What do you, as a user, understand from this line?

By extension, what would search engines and LLMs really understand?

This is an issue I advise to my clients - about the intent of the homepage. But I fell for the mistakes I routinely fix.

Your homepage copy is more than words. Most businesses get it wrong, me included.

From an SEO standpoint, your homepage copy does the following:

- It tells users and search engines exactly what you offer, so that Google matches your offering with a user's search.
- Signalling micro-intents like location, specialty help strengthen your topical relevance. 
- The context gathered from your home page then signals relevance to the remaining pages on the website.

I'm thinking this was a good idea to start working on this website in public.

I won't reveal which location this is being targetted for yet. Will let the results speak for themselves. :)

Perspectives are beginning to matter when it comes to showing up on search.

When LLMs were announced, everyone predicted that it would be the end of writers. And today, we know that there is more content generated by AI than humans on the web.

While volume of content creates the environment for quick indexing and traffic gains, we're increasingly seeing content perform for a while, and then drop.

Why? Because LLMs generate outputs based on their training data.

And most of the data online is generic, speakers which don't add new perspectives. Which means that a user will not engage with the article after a basic skim-through.

Perspectives require expertise. Something people cultivate over years of experience.

Would you trust me if I started writing about fitness, just because I started going to the gym? 

So if you're an expert in your field, keep calm. Put your expertise in your content. You'll start showing up sooner than later.

Been saying this to everyone who tells me "SEO is dead".

So by now we all know SEO didn’t die...


Adobe dropping nearly 2 billy on semrush is a pretty good signal of that innit?

People keep saying “SEO has just evolved”, but I die inside every time I read that.

It hasn't evolved really. The fundamentals never changed.

There’s information.
There are interfaces that organise that information.
People use those interfaces to find things.

As long as information exists (which it will forever), it will need to be searchable, and that means there will always be algorithms to please.

The actions an SEO specialist takes... they’re basically the same as they’ve always been:

1/ Make sure the product/service isn't sh*t. Not strictly an SEO job, but still the first hurdle.
2/ Make sure the site is good technically. Is it usable, fast, easy to navigate?
3/ Build pages that properly match search intent.
4/ Get bloggers, media and people talking about the brand.

What has changed, just a little bit for now, is the interface.

AI is now becoming a common search layer. Not just inside Google, but ChatGPT and every other assistant.

AI is becoming normal. And if people search through AI, we want our brands to show up in AI answers.

To get shown in AI answers, it looks about 80% the same as SEO work, with a few new focuses:
1/ Get mentioned in listicles
2/ Get featured in major media
3/ Build consistent positive reviews (Trustpilot etc.)
4/ Spark positive sentiment on social + forums like Reddit
5/ Knowledge bases around your services/products

With this we also know AI answers reduce clicks, so the game shifts from clicks and organic traffic or just Google.

It's now more about being visible, everywhere your audience searches.
So 'SEO' becomes about 'Search Visibility' on any platform.

That’s how I’ll be selling it and talking about it in 2026:
Not 'get more Google traffic' but 'become unmissable across search engines and AI'.

And the way we do that is pretty much what we’ve always done, just with sharper focus on the signals AI pays attention to.

This is even scarier than Google rolling out the llms.txt file. Especially if you've testing changes on your website. 😅
