My people are pull-yourself-by-the-boot-straps kind of people. 🥾 My grandparents all came from a different world, had a different language, and worked themselves to the bone to give all of us an exceptional life replete with freedom of choice about our careers and pursuit of wealth. In my early years, it seemed like hard work was all you needed to get ahead and have a dream life. 

Over the years, either I grew up and became less naive or the American dream died a little. Regardless, people are struggling to get by. They work hard but still can't make ends meet. By 2008, when the Great Recession reared its ugly head, many realized that consumers lacked protections. 🤑 

Part of the problem is a lack of guardrails when it comes to finance products like credit cards, insurance, and the like. The solution was the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Since President Donald J. Trump returned to the White House for his second administration, he has hacked at the CFPB.
