I’m a designer who spent countless hours using MidJourney to generate imagery in 2025.

It was the way things were done where I was. I’m not proud of the process, but I did learn a lot.

My thoughts:

🚫 You’ll never be 100% happy with the outcome. That’s because you can’t fully control it. The results are always a compromise of what you really want.
 
🚫 MidJourney doesn’t necessarily make the creative process faster. You’ll keep prompting for the changes you want (i.e. darker hair, warmer sunlight, make the object on a 45-degree angle, etc.), and the constant prompting takes time. Not sure if all the time it takes to prompt to get a meh outcome is worth it. 

🚫 Don’t get me started on people imagery.

🚫 Make the creative process make sense! If the AI-generated creative is pushed through million-dollar performance and out-of-home budgets, but the work can be 100000% better/richer/deeper with a stacked and skilled creative team instead…what is the point of using AI???!!!

🚫 The ethical implications and environmental impact still exist. I'll save that for another convo.

Postscript, hours after I wrote this post:
I thought about it a lot more, and I understand and can get behind AI as a tool for concept and ideation. I can't, however, be happy and content with its direct outputs as final creative, especially when I know the generated imagery is just "good enough" and not what I intended the finished creative to be. I guess it also depends on what the creative is for, how "big" the project is, what the budget and team looks like, and how the creative will be used...still a lot for me to think about...

Circuit Stream

Develop and launch new initiatives to effectively communicate our value proposition to potential XR learners and play a crucial role in improving and executing marketing initiatives and conceptualizing and executing effective designs for millions of dollars spent on video and static ads across multiple channels.

🡭 Coordinated the design of co-branded digital marketing content with major tech companies such as Meta, Spark, Niantic, and Unity, as well as working with multiple brand guidelines for 6+ University Partnerships, including the University of Toronto, University of British Colombia, and the University of California Irvine.

🡭 Optimized top-performing ad concepts and created the fresh ad, blog, and social media content to maintain consistency and elevate brand visuals. Worked on high-fidelity prototypes for landing pages, microsites, partner-related materials, and Circuit Stream's new website, ensuring that design performance was always aligned with company goals through A/B testing and iteration.

🡭 Established an internal process with the student services team and student ambassadors to source authentic student-generated content for our marketing, advertising, and branding efforts. Gathered and curated compelling content that showcased the real-life impact of our XR programs, resulting in increased brand credibility and student engagement.

🡭 Led and executed our social strategy on Instagram that increased brand trust, connected with potential students, and established a relatable brand image. Curated approachable content through the use of mini vlogs, trending videos, and team highlights featuring our Toronto and Calgary teams. Nurtured relationships with our audience through direct messaging, while optimizing our page to drive traffic to our website.

Coordinate the creation, design, and scheduling of social media content for 8+ client accounts, including SEO-optimized blog articles and various SEO duties to enhance clients' online presence and rankings.

🡭 Demonstrated expertise in writing SEO-optimized blog articles published on WordPress, resulting in increased website traffic for Gentle Paw. Additionally, took part in Gentle Paw’s social media giveaways to drive engagement during the holiday season.

🡭 Spearheaded the development and execution of monthly social media content and Google My Business posts, showcasing unique visual elements tailored to each brand’s guidelines and content pillars.
