I usually end sales calls fast.

Few days ago, I did the opposite.

A salesperson called to pitch me something. The usual script. The usual nervous pauses. Halfway through, he stopped and said something unexpected.

“Sir, I’ll be honest. I’m a fresher. I’m still learning sales.”

That one line changed everything.

The pitch didn’t suddenly get better.
But the conversation did.

I stopped evaluating him and started helping him. We spoke about how to open a call, how to ask better questions, and how to not sound like you are reading from a PDF. He listened. Took notes. Asked follow up questions.

At the end, he thanked me.
I thanked him back.
