Days like today make it pretty easy to be thankful.

	•	Thankful for a new house that’s slowly turning into a home.

	•	Thankful for a corporate role that stretches me and supports us.
	•	Thankful for the opportunity to grow a business that helps other owners do the same.

I don’t take any of it for granted. Grateful for what’s here now and for the opportunities still ahead.

Boxes, Not Posts

If I’ve seemed quiet on here this week, it’s because life is happening offline: we’re in the middle of a move, and every room looks a bit like this photo.

Once the boxes are out of the kitchen and we can find the coffee mugs again, I’ll be back to sharing more regularly.

Until then, it’s bubble wrap, box labels, and building the next chapter—one room at a time.

For the last year, a “real” office has been more of an idea than a place.

Renovation. Moving. Working from temporary corners and borrowed spaces.
Today, I finally get to sit down in a long-anticipated, permanent home office.

None of this happened in a vacuum.

Huge shoutout to my wife, Anna Auman Morris, who not only carried a ton of the load for our family during this season, but also designed the space.

She turned an empty room into a place that actually fits how I think, work, and meet with clients.

What’s new:
- A dedicated space to think, write, and serve clients
- Room to build bigger things for both my corporate role and Morris Strategic Advising
- A fresh environment that matches the next chapter I’m working toward

What hasn’t changed:
- The mission to serve customers well in my corporate role
- The commitment to help owners build more reliable, less chaotic revenue through Morris Strategic Advising
- My “assistant” (the dog) is still sleeping through all of it in the corner

As 2025 winds down, I’m closing the year with two clear focuses:
1) Corporate: Finish strong for the teams and customers I support, and set up 2026 with clarity, not confusion.

2) Morris Strategic Advising: Keep helping solopreneurs and small businesses untangle their sales and marketing so they can grow without burning themselves out.

New space. Same mission.
Very grateful for Anna—and for everyone who’s been part of this chapter.

Cold tempo run this morning reminded me of something:
Most of us quit in sales at the exact point our “legs” are about to get stronger.

Out there in the dark, 30-something degrees, my tempo run hit that familiar edge:
- Too easy → I stay warm, but never get faster
- Too hard → I blow up halfway and jog it in
- Sit right on that uncomfortable line → my body adapts and that “hard” pace becomes my new normal

Sales has the same lactic threshold.

Your “threshold” might be things like:
1) How many real prospecting touches you make before you start procrastinating
2) How long you stay in a pricing conversation before you cave or discount
3) How many “no’s” you can hear before you change your behavior
4) How clearly you talk about money, scope, and boundaries without tensing up

If you never get near that edge, you stay comfortable… and weak.
If you live way past it all the time, you burn out.

The goal is to train your sales threshold, the way you’d train tempo:
Find your edge and notice the exact moment you want to avoid: the follow-up you keep pushing, the tough client call you delay.

Stay there a little longer

One more honest question. One more outreach block. One more beat of silence after you state your price.

Do it on purpose, not by accident.
Like scheduled tempos, block “threshold reps”: short, focused windows where you intentionally do the uncomfortable work.

Recover and review
After the rep, ask: What did I feel? What did I learn? What would I do differently next time?

Over time, the same work stops spiking your heart rate.
Same calls. Same conversations. Same you on paper.

But with a higher threshold, you’re a lot stronger than before.
