I’ve always loved stories.  Stories and adventure.  

Growing up, I loved The Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter and Around the World in 80 Days.  I loved how stories entertain and take you to new worlds, teach you things and inspire you into action.  I still do.

I’m a conversion copywriter.  I write websites and emails, grounded in research, persuasion and behavioural theory to create a compelling narrative/story which takes potential customers on a journey to the point of saying “yes”.  

Stories have played an important part throughout my career.

As an Account Manager at PR agencies, I wrote and promoted stories to launch products and services to national, local B2B and B2C media.

*  I worked on online music PR campaigns for some of the biggest popstars in the UK between 2006 and 2010.  I worked with independent and major record labels including Atlantic Records, Warner Music and Polydor on campaigns for Estelle’s no. 1 single ‘American Boy’ and Mercury Prize nominated album ‘Shine’, Seal, Enya, Jason Derulo to name a few.  

*  With Pilgrims Choice, I achieved national coverage (including Have I Got News For You) for “Cheese Couture”, a range of dresses made of cheese for the Bath and West Show.  Yes, they ponged a bit, but they helped us to secure a CIPR West of England Silver PRide Award!

At Wolverhampton Grand Theatre, a registered charity, it wasn’t just about the stories on stage.  As Events Manager and Development Manager (positions created esepcially for me), I shone a figurative spotlight on the theatre’s charitable and community work and developed additional revenue streams.  
*  I established a calendar of must-attend networking events and workshops for local business, which included Google’s first Digital Garage in the city. 
* I fundraised £15k through special events in 2019 for the Grand’s 125th Anniversary.  
* I wrote awards applications to secure numerous shortlist and wins at Wolverhampton’s WIRE Awards, Black Country Chamber of Commerce Awards and the Express and Star Business Awards.  

I’m a qualified ESL teacher and I’ve taught students from all over the world (online and as a volunteer) and also abroad in Italy and Spain (I told you I’m adventurous!).   I love to hear my students’ stories, understand their motivations and find ways to help them achieve their goals… even if this means singing “Happy Birthday” countless times or pretending to faint to help convey new vocabulary.
