I'm a 40 yr old entrepreneur and I'm not embarrassed to admit that...

1. I still worry about letting people down and it can weigh on me. I take my clients success very seriously and often put a lot of pressure on myself. 

2. I spent a large part of my life feeling like I didn't fit in anywhere. I often felt like an outsider that wasn't asian enough for some or white enough for others. 

3. I still struggle with feelings of not being "good enough". It created a lot of motivation and drive, but now I'm learning to tap into SERVICE as my motivation instead of proving. 

4. I'm terrible at multi-tasking. If it's launch week in the business, I'm so locked in that things like cleaning the house, booking appointments, etc can fall to the side. 

5. Most people would say I'm extroverted, but as I get older I absolutely need more alone time.

6. I live in Denver and while I love it here, I often get restless staying in one place for too long and my mind already is thinking is this a city that I want to stay?

7. I'm not where I want to be yet, and I'm trying to find the balance of being grateful for how far I've come while still having that drive for more.

8. Sometimes I wonder if motherhood is my path as we've struggled with fertility -- and it's not always easy to stay hopeful. Yet, I continue to lean into optimism. It has been an isolating experience. 

9. I always have in my reading rotation a personal development book and a fantasy book. Entering the Sarah J Maas universe was a slippery slope. IYKYK

10. It's not always easy to switch off "business mode". I could switch off more in my corporate life, but as a business owner it feels harder. 

I'm a work in progress. 
And even after 40 years, there's still a lot I don't have figured out yet. 

I'm not trying to be perfect. 
Just learning, growing, healing -- little by little. 

Life is about the holding the duality.

Work/life balance is dead.

At least for entrepreneurs.

I see this tired advice everywhere:
"Set boundaries."
"Don't work weekends."
"Turn off at 5pm."

Here's the hard truth: That framework wasn't built for people building something they're obsessed with.

The work/life balance framework made sense when:
→ You had a boss dictating your schedule
→ Work was something you did for someone else's dream
→ You counted down minutes until 5pm
→ Your income was tied to hours worked

Today's reality for entrepreneurs:
❌ You can't "turn off" your brain when you love what you're building
❌ Inspiration doesn't follow a 9-5 schedule
❌ Your biggest breakthroughs happen at random moments
❌ Rigid boundaries kill momentum and creativity

The danger of forcing traditional balance? You miss the magic.

I work some Saturdays (gasp!).
I create content at 8pm on a Wednesday. 
I'm obsessed with what I do, and I'll put in 2 hours on a rare weekend without an ounce of guilt and have fun doing it.

But you'll also catch me taking a long nap on random Wednesdays. 
I'll book a 2pm massage during the week and not feel rushed. 
I have lunch with friends on a Tuesday because I can.

That's not imbalance. That's freedom.

So what really is work/life balance?

It's having the choice to work when you're inspired and rest when you need to, without anyone else's permission.

My favorite is taking the pupper out for a hike and avoid the crowds.

One fact I learned that blew my mind is...

The average age of successful entrepreneurs is 42 years old.

Not 22. Not 25. Forty-two.

We've been sold this story that entrepreneurship is a young person's game. Mark Zuckerberg coding in his dorm. 
Bill Gates dropping out of Harvard. 
Steve Jobs in that famous garage.

But here's what the data actually shows:

→ Harvard Business Review analyzed 2.7 million business founders
→ 50-year-old entrepreneurs are TWICE as likely to succeed as 30-year-olds
→ 60-year-old founders outperform entrepreneurs in their twenties
→ Peak success rates happen in your 40s and 50s
→ The top 0.1% of fastest-growing startups? Founded by 45-year-olds on average.

Why do "older" entrepreneurs win more often?

Experience. You've failed before. You know which mistakes to avoid.
Networks. Twenty years of industry relationships and trust.
Resources. The financial runway to survive those first brutal months.
Patience. You're not looking for overnight success. You're building for the long game.

If you're 35, 45, or 55 and thinking "maybe it's too late"...

The data says you're just getting started.

And yes, maybe I needed to see this because I'm 40 and I used to tell myself "Imagine where I'd be if I had just started when I was younger". 

Now I can see that I'm right on time.

You're worried your old coworkers will see your LinkedIn posts about mindset & spirituality... and think you've lost your mind.

So you water down your message.
You hide your crystals and Joe Dispenza meditations.
You call it "mindset work" when you really mean "deep healing work"
You pretend you're still that corporate person you used to be.

Meanwhile, your ideal clients scroll right past your beige content.

Here's what I learned after working at LinkedIn and now helping spiritual women build their personal brands:

Your coworkers aren't writing you checks.

The women who need your work? The ones building heart-centered businesses?

They're not looking for another "thought leader" spouting corporate buzzwords.

They're looking for someone who speaks their language.

What you think LinkedIn wants:
→ "Leveraging strategic frameworks for optimal outcomes"
→ "Implementing scalable methodologies for growth"
→ Safe motivational quotes that offend no one

What your $10K clients actually want to see:
→ "I started every client call with a grounding ritual and my close rate doubled"
→ [story about how nervous system work led to business breakthrough]
→ "The money mindset shift that took me from broke to booked"

LinkedIn has evolved.
It's where coaches talk about money blocks.
Where healers share client transformation stories.
Where creative entrepreneurs show up in full color.

The women who will invest thousands in your programs?
They don't want watered-down you.
They want all of you.

Your authenticity isn't unprofessional.
It's magnetic to the right people.

You’re watching ideal clients engage with your posts…
And yet, you’re still sitting on the sidelines waiting for them to DM you.

When the truth is, your revenue would 10x if you sent the first DM.

But then that little voice creeps up. You know, the one that says...
“I don’t want to be pushy.”
 “I’m not one of those marketers.”
 “What if I sound salesy?”

So you wait.

Here’s what that waiting is costing you:
→ The $5K client who hired the coach who reached out first
 → The referral partner who could’ve sent 3 clients this month
 → The collaboration that would’ve doubled your reach
 → The $15K contract that went to someone less talented but more proactive

While you’re protecting your image, someone else is starting conversations.

They’re not sleazy.
They’re not aggressive.
They just know how to DM with skill.

One of my clients Sarah, a talented career coach,  used to freeze every time she opened her inbox.

Six weeks later, she’d started consistent conversations....and closed $18K in new business.

Not because she became “salesy.”
Because she learned how to turn engagement into relationships.

The difference between a $5K month and a $10K month?
Often it’s just 3–5 intentional DMs per week.

DMs aren’t about pitching.
 (there's enough of that already in these LinkedIn streets )

They’re about starting conversations with people who are already raising their hand.

Most coaches hate selling because they're doing it from the wrong energy.

Not the wrong script. Not the wrong funnel. The wrong energy.

Level 1: "To Me" aka The Victim 
"Clients aren't buying right now. It's a slow season. The algorithm hates me."

Everything's external. Nothing's in your control. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy when you believe you can't sell, you stop trying.

Level 2: "By Me" aka The Hustler
"I'll outwork everyone. I'll send more DMs. I'll just try harder." 

Here's the tricky thing: Level 2 works. You CAN white-knuckle your way to results. But it's exhausting.

Every sale requires maximum effort. There's no ease.
And when people buy, you're already too burnt out to enjoy it.

(Most coaches I meet are stuck here. Successful but exhausted.)

Level 3: "Through Me" aka The Channel

You stop forcing and start allowing. Still doing the work. Still showing up. But less grip. Less desperation. Less "I NEED this to work" energy. More FLOW.

People start showing up saying "I don't know why but I knew I needed to work with you." Opportunities appear you didn't manufacture.

Your audience can feel the difference between selling from scarcity and selling from overflow.

Level 4: "As Me" aka The Embodiment You don't chase clients because you ARE the thing they want. You're the result. The transformation. The proof. Your existence does most of the selling.

Here's how to use this:

Get honest about where you're operating from.

Notice where you're trying to FORCE results.

4 Levels of Consciousness

Do you ever feel like you're posting on LinkedIn and... nothing happens?

Same five people liking your content. 
No new followers. 
No DMs from potential clients. (except people selling you lol)

Here's what most people don't realise:

The LinkedIn algorithm doesn't care about virality.

 LinkedIn cares about relevancy.

And ever since LinkedIn updated it's 360 Brew algorithm

(Btw, I still can't get over that it the algo sounds like a coffee shop. Like who named this?? 🤣)

The algorithm is designed to show users content that's specifically relevant to THEM - not content that's popular with the masses.

This is great news for you as a creator.

It means you don't need millions of followers. 
You don't need to go viral. 

You just need to create content that deeply resonates with your specific ideal client.

Here's how it works:

When you post, LinkedIn tests your content with a small portion of your network first. If those people engage and if they STAY on your post (dwell time) - the algorithm pushes it to more people.

So the question is: Is your content specific enough that your ideal client stops scrolling?

They think they need:

• A big audience
• Daily posting
• Viral content
• Fancy funnels
• Endless engagement

But that’s not what drives high-ticket sales.

The truth?
It’s not about how many people are watching.
