What does one think about? 

Some days…

I just sit down quietly and reflect.

Life is not always about pushing harder.

Sometimes… you just need to breathe, reset, and let the lights guide you home again.

At 55, I’m learning this…

You don’t need to have everything figured out.

You don’t need to “fix” everything or everyone.

You just need to keep walking… one step at a time.

If you’re feeling stuck, tired, or a bit lost this month…

same bro… same.

But maybe this “in-between” is actually the beginning of your next chapter.

But being on stage felt different. 

Never that I expected to share the stage with my mentor. 

Although I had a secret that I kept. 

I did want to learn from him. 
I did want to spend time learning. 
I did want to find out how he did it. 

I wanted to know his story. 

I did it not because I wanted to be like him.

I did it because I saw that I could figure out and resolve my own challenges. 

No, it didn’t happen overnight. 

Let me go back a little and share the story.

What is one goal you have had for many years?

speaking on stage, I said to myself
Hey, I wanna do that one day
So keep on dreaming

Semua orang boleh buat bila benda tu senang. 

Tapi bila situasi jadi susah, barulah kita tahu siapa yang betul-betul ada mastery.

Or at least nak menuju ke arah mastery. 

Mastery ni memerlukan fokus yang dalam. 

Lagi-lagi bila kita mudah terganggu. 

Kau kena ada CCPR (spirit, continuous, consistent, persistent, resilient).

Bukan jadi HHCS (hot hot chicken shit).

Bila lalui journey ni, kita kena jadi macam Pak Izzi kata, mesti CAN-ii.

A continuous and never ending improvement individual. 

Maksudnya, kita sentiasa upgrade diri.

One thing that stood out: people in the East Coast are 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐈 for work — small town or big city doesn’t matter anymore.

A privilege to be part of the engagement,
and good to see these conversations happening beyond the Klang Valley.

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐧𝐨𝐧–𝐀𝐈 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐈 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞?

This is something I notice a lot — and the 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 and 𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 can be quite surprising.

Many who speak confidently about #AI:

– are 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝
– 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞, 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝, 𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 AI
– are 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐮𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 with how quickly things shift
– only see 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫, 𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬, of a much broader ecosystem
– and in many cases, all they really know is #ChatGPT, yet they speak as if that represents all of “AI”

And even 𝐈𝐓 𝐯𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 (from my interactions) can view AI through a narrow lens — because AI breaks many assumptions traditional IT was built on.

This is how we get advice like:

“AI can’t do that.”
“AI is still too early.”
“You need months of preparation.”
“Just use a prompt template.”

But when you actually practise AI daily —
building, testing, redesigning workflows, troubleshooting, solving real problems —
you see a very different picture.

The gap between 𝐀𝐈 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐲 and 𝐀𝐈 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 is still huge.

𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐰𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝-𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 — 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬.

Because better understanding leads to better decisions.

Does your AI trainer or expert really have 15–20 years of #AI experience?

Recently I’ve been seeing a lot of profiles claiming this.

But when you look deeper, the “15+ years” is actually in other industries — just written in a way that makes people 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞 it as deep #AI experience.

Example (paraphrased for LinkedIn):
" 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 “𝟏𝟓+ 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲, 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭… 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐀𝐈… 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞-𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡…”

Sounds impressive. 

But none of that is 15 years in AI.

And just to be clear — 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐀𝐈 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝟏𝟓–𝟐𝟎 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐨.

The tech behind today’s LLMs only took off after 2017, and #ChatGPT launched publicly in 2022.

So unless you 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐈/𝐌𝐋, 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐌𝐋 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐲𝐩𝐞… you don’t have “20 years in AI.”

You have 20 years in something else + 1 year in AI.

⚠️ 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬

When companies fall for inflated profiles, they end up with:
🔸 shallow prompting workshops
🔸 zero strategic depth
🔸 weak implementation
🔸 money wasted on sessions that change nothing

In a field evolving this fast, 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 — not inflated CVs.

💬 Are these exaggerated AI profiles getting out of hand?

If you’re in Malaysia’s tech ecosystem, you’ve probably come across him — and if you haven’t, you eventually will.

Ts. Gerard P. is the 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐈𝐊𝐎𝐌, and he’s the reason we (AIHQ) are now part of both PIKOM, The National Tech Association of Malaysia and GBS Malaysia.

He was also the 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐁𝐒 𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐍 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭, and if you’ve seen the scale of that event, you’ll know it takes a very capable person to pull the ecosystem together like that.

But beyond all the roles and titles — Gerard is someone with 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭.

He has real 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 for the industry,
for strengthening collaborations,
and equally for music.

And if you didn’t know — he’s an 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭.

Someone asked me this recently.

The funny thing is — I’m not talking about AI for fun, hype, or to “be in trend.”

I talk about #AI because 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥.

People think AI is a topic.

It’s not.

It’s 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫.

Every conversation I have with organisations ends up being about:

– workflows
– processes
– manpower gaps
– wasted steps
– customer delays
– staff burnout
– outdated systems
– real productivity losses

AI just happens to be 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐱𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬.

So no — I’m not tired.

Because every time someone misunderstands AI, delays AI, or treats AI like a side hobby, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐥𝐲.

If talking about AI helps even one team avoid years of inefficiency, then 𝐈’𝐥𝐥 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠.

Not because I want to — but because 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧.

𝐀 𝐥𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐀𝐈 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐣𝐨𝐛𝐬 𝐲𝐞𝐭.

Not because they’re careless, but because 𝐀𝐈 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐥𝐲.

It doesn’t arrive dramatically. 

It appears as:
– a new feature,
– a small automation,
– one fewer manual step,
– a workflow that suddenly moves faster.

Individually, these changes look harmless.

Collectively, they reshape how a job functions.

Often, the tasks evolve long before the role does.

That’s why many don’t notice it.

#AI doesn’t transform work in one big moment — it does it through many small adjustments.

At the same time, a lot of people feel “prepared” because they’ve collected:

– 5 workshop certificates,
– badges,
– US/Europe-branded credentials,
– countless talks and webinars.

But these don’t always reflect how much their day-to-day work has already shifted.

AI is already here — not as a sudden threat, but as a series of quiet changes that accumulate over time.

Most people aren’t behind.

They just haven’t realised how much their work has already evolved.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤?

𝐈’𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟎 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 at the Super Secretaries & Administrators Conference 2025 (SSAC25).

Held on 𝟑𝐫𝐝–𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 at 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐬 𝐊𝐋, I’ll be running a #ChatGPT 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 — simple, practical, and focused on real daily work.

This group handles the coordination, documentation, scheduling, and follow-ups that keep organisations moving — so even small digital improvements can make their workload lighter.

And honestly… it’s true.

Some SMEs are extremely stubborn about AI:

– 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐩, 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
– 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 / 𝐥𝐨𝐰-𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬
– 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 “𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬” 𝐚𝐬 𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥
– 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲

Then they wonder why nothing moves.

AI transformation is not magic.

It’s decisions, investment, and willingness to change how work is done.

But some SMEs only react when they’re already almost drowning — systems breaking, manpower stretched, competitors ahead — then suddenly the urgency appears.

You can’t drag a company into transformation.

If they’re not ready, they’re not ready.

And that’s the uncomfortable truth.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐝, 𝐈’𝐦 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 — 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈’𝐦 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝.

Books weren’t a big part of my life growing up — I only started reading seriously in adulthood.

And every stage of my life, I ended up reading different things.

When things were tough, I read 𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

Now I read more 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 and non-fiction.

In a world of short-form content, it’s nice to slow down and 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 for a while.

#GTLF is one of the more established festivals in the region, and it’s good to just be around people who genuinely enjoy books.

A simple break from the usual routine.
