I used to feel like a high-performer stuck in a low-performance body.

I used to drink like it was my job

Networking dinners? A bottle shared.
Deal closed? Champagne.

And it felt normal, even expected.
Until I realized what it was really costing me.

Before I coached humans, I optimized logistics.

At Porsche and Audi, I consulted on systems:

Shoulder pain: the silent performance killer?

96% think shoulder pain is a local issue:

→ a muscle knot
→ a joint problem
→ a rotator cuff strain

But more often than not, it’s systemic.

If you sit for 8–10 hours a day, your body adapts.

Your fascia stiffens.
Your chest shortens.
Your upper back weakens.

Your nervous system starts seeing “movement” as a threat 
+ tightens even more to protect you.

And that tension?

It shows up when you’re trying to focus on work but can’t find a comfortable position.

8 Years of Emotional Intelligence in 60 seconds

Emotional intelligence is body-mind fitness.
You learn. You train. You progress.

All right… Let’s go!

1) Emotions and feelings are not the same.

Emotions are raw, automatic responses; the body’s first language.

Feelings are the stories we tell about those emotions.

One happens in the body. 
The other in the mind.


2) You can’t “manage” emotions (but may try.)

You can only feel them.
Fully, without judgment .
And then let them move through.

Suppression is what makes them toxic. 
Expression is what makes them healing.


3) I was too much in my head.

I analyzed instead of feeling. 
Solved instead of sensing.

It kept me productive, yes…
and disconnected.


4) Emotional intelligence isn’t pretty.

When I opened up to my own emotions, 
I started feeling everyone else’s too.

The joy. The pain. The grief. 
The exhaustion behind their smiles.


5) I got hurt young (and built walls.)

Alcohol. Work. Achievement. 
They kept people out – and me safe.

But also lonely.

When I finally let myself be seen, something shifted: 
when I was vulnerable, others were too.


6) What triggered me in others?

Almost always, a reflection of what I hadn’t accepted in myself.


The bottom line?

Emotional intelligence isn’t about being calm or kind.

It’s about being honest.

With your body. 
Your patterns. 
Your pain.

These days, I feel more (thanks Ketty), but I also live more.

And I’ve learned that strength isn’t in holding it together.
It’s in being real enough to let it fall apart when it needs to.

I’d do this

Back then, I thought I needed:

→ A gym membership
→ At least 90 minutes per session
→ To already be strong and “fit enough” before starting

And by the way…

Those three beliefs are often reasons people never begin.

So… let’s bust them!

Here’s what I’ve seen with our clients every week for the past 3+ years:


1) You don’t need a gym.

One of our clients started with nothing but a mat, a chair, and his body. 

Because that’s how we train too.

Within 6 weeks, his back pain decreased, 
and he felt strong climbing stairs again.


2) You don’t need hours.

Another client trains just 20 minutes before the family wakes up. 

The consistency, not the length, built strength in his hips and core
→ and now he moves through long workdays with ease.


3) You don’t need to be “ready.”

Most people wait for the “perfect moment.” 

But, you get ready by starting. 

A client recently told me, “I’m 54 and thought I was too stiff and too old… now I’m ahead of where I was 10 years ago. So really thank you!”

When he said that, my eyes welled up. I felt proud of him.


What makes it work is simple: 

We integrate strength with mobility 
+ Med Method meals 
+ nervous system regulation. 

That means…

Less pain, more power, and energy that lasts.


So, if I were starting today?

I’d keep it simple. 

→ Short sessions. 
→ Everyday objects. 
→ Focus on quality, not quantity.

Because the best time to build a body that moves, adapts, and sustains you… was yesterday.

Probably the best way to get (and stay) fit and healthy?


Build a solid foundation.

I learned this the hard way.

Through burnout.

9 Years of 99% Alcohol-Free Living in 60 Seconds


1️⃣ Alcohol is deeply cultural.

It’s how we celebrate, relax, connect. 
It’s the glue of social rituals. 

And for years, I didn’t question it. 
A drink in hand meant I belonged.


2️⃣ Not drinking to belong connected me deeper.

At first, I thought I’d lose friends. 
Instead, I found people who could meet me without the haze. 
Conversations got real. Presence replaced “performance.”


3️⃣ Alcohol keeps you “soft” – in body and mind.

It numbs the edges of your ambition. 
The fog, the bloating, the disrupted sleep.
And they quietly steal your drive. 

When I stopped, my body changed. 
My thinking sharpened.


4️⃣ When I turned down an invite, I felt strong, not weak.

Because saying no wasn’t deprivation.
It was self-respect.


5️⃣ At first people asked, “Are you sick?”

Later, they asked, “How did you do it?”

Funny how your boundaries make others curious once they see your results.


6️⃣ When I decided alcohol was part of my history, not my future, everything shifted.

My identity changed from escape to embodiment.

Nine years later, I’m not “sober.”
I drink a glass of wine, or a beer once in weeks or months.

I don’t need it any more.
I broke the habit that was part of my identity.

My weight is quite stable since.
And my body feels more at peace.

“I don’t want to be like my dad.”

M. said that during our first call. 
His voice cracked just slightly.

His dad was a good man. 
Provided for the family. 
Worked hard. 
Never complained.

But by 55, he was on blood pressure meds, borderline diabetic, and could barely walk up a flight of stairs without catching his breath.

He used to say, 
“That’s just what happens when you get older, son.”

Now M. is 47.

Most people think health is in their genes

But it’s built on what you see + do.

My dad was a janitor.

We lived above a public gym hall.
The smell of wood floor polish, chalk, and old leather still sits in my memory.

It was the best playground imaginable.

We played The Floor is Lava between benches and mats.
Pulled out the trampoline when no one was there.
Shot hoops until our hands were raw.

And every evening…

I’d sneak downstairs to the basement gym to watch him train.

Cycling gloves.
Rusty weights.
A cassette player whispering 80s rock.

He’d warm up with air squats and arm circles, 
bang out 30 pull-ups, then press, curl, and 
grind until sweat pooled under his feet.

He wasn’t chasing abs or progress pictures.

Just discipline.
Consistency.
Pride in showing up.

I didn’t realize it back then:

He was teaching me something far greater than how to lift.

He was programming my nervous system:

→ showing me that movement is normal
→ strength is earned
→ self-care isn’t selfish

Kids don’t do what you say.
They copy what you live.

That shaped me as much as any degree or certification ever could.

And maybe that’s your reminder:

Chris, a 44-year-old project director from Boston,

P.S. How often per week are you tired by 3PM? (honest answer, ehh.)

It’s Monday & you already feel tired.

Many high performers think 
the weekend should’ve been enough to recharge.

But here’s the pattern I’ve seen after coaching dozens of executives:

You think, you’re tired because
↪︎ you worked too much.

But often, you’re tired because 
↪︎ your system never switches off.

The weekend becomes a recovery attempt, 
not actual recovery:

You sleep in to “catch up.”
Squeeze in a random workout.
Indulge in restaurant meals + a few drinks.
Maybe coffee & cake on Sunday.

By Sunday night?

Anxiety kicks in.
You lie awake, your body – restless.
You check your phone, ‘1:49AM. F**k.’
And Monday starts with a fog instead of focus.

This might be due to what I call the Energy Leak Triangle:

1) Sugar high from comfort food
2) Muscle stiffness + “restlessness” from moving too little
3) A racing mind because the body is flooded with cortisol from constant alertness

One of my clients, a senior exec from London, told me last week:

“Remember when I texted you and said ‘I want more energy.”? Well, it turns out I was never fully recovering, never fully switching off.”

When we started, we rebuilt his routine around three simple shifts:

→ A 20-minute morning activation w/ functional strength + mobility
→ Protein-first breakfast (30-40g to start the day right)
→ 5 minutes of nervous system downregulation after work

Within 4 weeks, he felt sharper than he had in years.
After 8 weeks, he loved Mondays again.
After 12 weeks, confident consistency on essential habits.

That goes to show...
