After an incident resulted in the loss of five months of company-wide data at Wright Global Graphics, I was called in to help out with manual information re-entry.

In the first 1.5 months, I recreated shipping, sales, and purchasing information for an entire plant (working with those three departments), allowing for full operations to resume. That operation was originally estimated to last for 3 months, but was cut considerably short by my work efficiency. While there, I also created an index of their paper filing system allowing sales reps and production workers to save more than 60% of their time previously spent on filing and retrieving folders. I also re-digitized a paper card filing system, creating similar productivity boosts.

I then switched to the corporate office for another month helping accounting remove $5.5 million in accounts receivable from a partial system backup to allow the ERP to return usable information for reports. Along the way, I found methods to complete many tasks in fractions of the original estimated time using Excel shortcuts and in one case, automating the problem using Python.

Data Entry Clerk

Over the course of 48 days as a customer service representative at the Guilford County Board of Elections, I handled 1,748 calls, scanned 53,019 absentee envelopes, and filed and accessed 22,871 pages to ensure 69,233 voters had their voices heard in the 2020 general election. I also created dashboards to visualize my productivity during that time.

As a production intern working for The Resource at Ecolab:

• I was part of a surge workforce to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic to help increase the production of cleaning and sanitizing equipment for quick-service restaurants.
• I learned production techniques through experiences on five production lines.
• I filled more than 14,000 bottles and packed another 22,000 while indirectly impacting more than 91,000 bottles.
• I toured the quality assurance lab and learned about ensuring product quality.
• I actively engaged in workforce COVID-19 mitigation discussions with management, voicing questions, and offering suggestions for improvements.

I make great visualizations and find data insights using R and Excel (check out my featured posts for examples). The next step on my data journey is to create useful dashboards to shorten the decision-making process and build my artificial intelligence expertise. 🤖

To maximize our ability to explore our universe and expand humanity’s sphere of influence outside of our Sun’s influence, we will need to figure out ways around the light speed barrier. The method I consider most promising is warp drive. While it may not become a practical propulsion method in my lifetime, I collaborate with others to collate General Relativity literature developments to the warp drive metric to spur intellectual development in that direction. 🚀
