Linkedin reminds me today its 10 year anniversary of SaaStock.

10 years since i took the leap to become a first time founder and creating an event and community business, something i’d never done before.

The first SaaStock was magical whilst it filled me with anxiety throughout.

Timing was everything. 

We’ve had tailwinds and faced headwinds.

10 years of growing the business, building a team, expanding internationally.

Showing up every day.

2 years during covid of trying to survive and providing value to our community when there was no in person. Never giving up.

Seeing some new products fail.

Seeing SaaStock Founder Membership (SFM) deliver value.

Working with amazing colleagues present and past.

10 years of looking forward to tomorrow on a Sunday night.

10 years of some exceptional memories and friendships forged.

It’s been hard. It can be exhausting. I’m getting some grey hairs (probs just age). I’ve put on weight, i’ve lost weight.

Yet the Why we do what we do. The purpose is so compelling and rewarding. I feel like I have the best job in the world (most days).

And whilst Linkedin says 10 years. It’s really day one again.

We’ve re-imagined SaaStock. A new program centred around 1:1 meetings and peer to peer learning.

It’s just the start of a new era at one of the most exciting times in B2B Software.

The fire is just as bright as it was 10 years ago.

Last night I sat at a table of SaaS founders where "dead" looked more like “doubling.”

One founder — fully bootstrapped — was at $8M ARR in April.
 Last night? $13M ARR.

Another I hadn’t seen in a year.
Now sitting at $16M ARR.

No outside capital.
No hype cycle.

Just leaning into tailwinds, building systems, and shipping value.

Add in founders at $5M ARR, $7M ARR — same story:
Quiet execution > loud predictions.

It’s funny — people keep declaring SaaS over.

Meanwhile, the builders I know are compounding.

Yesterday I ran a 'keyshop' in Dubai, asking a room full of fast food operators how / where they wanted to use AI.

But since my talk, Google released its new, upgraded image generator... which is now scarily good at creating infographics. 

This took me < 10 mins and three prompts (a little adjustment to the style and get it to use the FFCC logo). 

Wow. 

↳ 30 minutes on stage. 
↳ 50+ ideas from the audience, captured live. 
↳ A crowd-powered manifesto synthesising their visions. 
↳ One ideas portal, to search & explore everyone's ideas (with data analysis)

& now, a glanceable artefact – again, drawn from the collective insight of a room full of seasoned operators. 

When people say AI isn't creative, they have a point. 
But we can & should think about how to use AI to explore (many!) human creative inputs, in ways that were never before possible.

Some Friday fun, but with a deeply contrarian view of AI 'slop' nestled inside...

I've seen so many posts of people feigning outrage at the Pakistani newspaper which accidentally left ChatGPT's final section at the end of an article. 

Yes, it's painful. 

But let's be realistic. This is a vanilla article about some auto market data.  
For the right reader, it's fine. It captures and synthesises information. 

In a year or so, asking humans to write these kind of stories will feel as wasteful as expecting your accountant to do your finances without using a spreadsheet. 

But that doesn't mean we won't have human writers. 

Video didn't kill the radio star. They just became podcasters...

AI won't kill the thought-leader (even if many people might wish it would* ;)

Opinion. Analysis. Judgement. Curation. Lived experience. Story-telling. Dot-connecting. 

These skills will become more valuable. And the future normal of the news / content industry will be split:
↳ 95% AI-generated, factual reporting. 
↳ 5% deeply human pieces, as listed above.  

Or maybe it's 99:1...the numbers don't matter. It's the shift and split that matters. 

And the bigger insight – AI will take over many of the tasks your organisation performs today. That's great! Your job is to figure out which ones.

And then decide what the tasks / outputs it 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑𝑛'𝑡 take over will look like in the future.

* My personal hope is that it's the AI-powered "thought-leader" that won't survive... but that remains a forlorn hope if this platform is any indication 🥶

As someone who's been pushing "multiplayer" AI for over a year now, ChatGPT's launch of group chats is a pretty big moment. 

Greg is right that this will create some fascinating & entirely new categories as multiple humans + multiple AIs create & explore together. 

But there's an even bigger opportunity that all these software-first perspectives miss: 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. 

Working with AI, we can now create, analyse and synthesise diverse inputs from huge numbers of people in minutes. 

Not just in a chat window, but live. Together.   

These group chats will be useful. But unlocking the collective intelligence of an entire industry or organisation – in real time – is transformational.

This is bigger than just social intelligence. It's 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.

All the worry about AI ads seems to be pretty overblown when you look at the state of most ads today. 

We’re hardly at the top of the creative mountain…any of these could be pumped out by an LLM in seconds (maybe they were?!)

Good-enough content, everywhere all at once, will only increase the value of designers who have the ability to make people stop in their tracks.

The bigger picture is:

↳ Humans are hardwired to value scarcity & reject abundance. 

↳ Making something abundant always leads people to value it less. 

↳ Creativity is about finding ways to make people notice / care. 

That won’t ever change. We’ll just do it differently.
