2016: Founded Gym Launch and switched from privately owning gyms to doing in-person turnarounds

2017: We transitioned from in-person turnarounds to a licensing business and helped over 4500+ facilities transform their businesses.

2019: Our supplement company, Prestige Labs, launched to help those gyms create another profit center and provide their customers with high-quality nutritional products.

2020: Started ALAN, a software company that helps brick-and-mortar businesses get twice as many people in the door on average for one-third the price of a front desk admin.

2020: Founded Acquisition.com, to invest in and help grow companies. Made our first 3 investments.

2021: We sold our majority shares of ALAN to a strategic partner and a 66% stake in Gym Launch and Prestige Labs to American Pacific Group.

My top business book tier list. What did I miss?

21 yrs old: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.

23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).

24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.

26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.

26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.

26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.

27 yrs old: “Gym Launch” does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.

31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition(dot)com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.

34 yrs old: I became co-founder of Skool - which is a platform for people to build communities online… making a living doing what they love, with people like them.

If you've been "learning" for 6 months and haven't made $1...

Excuses dressed up as preparation.

The person who started 6 months ago with half your knowledge is already earning.

I started my career with a beat-up government laptop.

Core 2 Duo. Took 10 minutes to open Chrome.

Worked from my bedroom. 
No fancy setup. 
No second monitor. 
No ergonomic chair.

Just me, a slow laptop, and clients who didn't know the difference.

Built an entire business from that room.

Now I can afford the fancy stuff.

MacBook Pro. Standing desk. Whatever I want.

But here's the thing:
I don't need it.

Starting with nothing taught me something.

You don't need the perfect setup to start, you just need to start.

I put myself in an MRI machine for a client.

Not because he asked. 

Because I thought it would make better ads.

Most copywriters would've Googled "MRI stock footage" and called it a day.

That's the difference.

Do things others won't do. 

You'll have what others don't have.

Every freelancer asks the same question in the beginning.

"How will I ever get clients?"

I've sold to tens of thousands of Pakistanis.

Here's what nobody tells you about the mass market:

1. Their price-to-value brain is broken.

In developed markets, higher price = higher perceived value.

In Pakistan, higher price = "yeh toh loot raha hai."

The part of the brain that equates price to value is short-circuited.

2. They expect everything for the least possible free.

"Bhai thora discount dedo." 
"Yaar pehli dafa hai, free mein kardo." 
"Itna mehnga? Kya rakha hai ismein?"

No matter how much you give, they want more for less.

3. They want to talk to a human.

Automated funnels? Landing pages? Email sequences?

Forget it.

They want WhatsApp. They want to ask questions. 

They want to feel like they're buying from a person, not a system.

"Bhai aap khud batao, worth it hai?"

4. They don't have a good relationship with money or people with money

Most people in this market are looking for handouts. 

"You have money, give it to me for free."
"He's doing good? Haram ka paisa ho ga."
"Why are you scaling? Is what you're already making not good enough for you?"

From one marketer to another...

This market is different.

What works in the US won't work here.

Adapt or lose.

How to deal with difficult clients.

Advice from someone who's done 3,500+ projects for 1800 different clients across 98 countries.

Don't take it personal.
Don't take it personal.
Don't take it personal.

I wrote it 3 times because you'll forget it 3 times.

1. Think of yourself as customer service. 

You're here to solve a problem. Not to be right.

2. Stop worrying about revisions. 

Revisions aren't rejection. They're part of the job.

3. And lastly, overwhelm them with options. 

Send 3 versions instead of 1. Let them feel in control.

Difficult clients aren't enemies.

They're just scared their money won't work.

Your job is to make them feel safe.

I used to scroll for hours, finding winning hooks.

Now Claude Cowork does it in 15 minutes.

How I use it:

→ Give it a page and it pulls all winning hooks and angles. 
→ Give it access to LinkedIn and it analyzes top performers and extracts what's working. 
→ Give it my messy calendar and it organizes everything. 
→ Give it access to a folder and it summarizes and categorizes.

No extra tools. No subscriptions. 

It does a bajillion things.

The only limit is your imagination.

Adding a HOW TO guide in the comments

This is the first copy I ever wrote.

It was supposed to be an Instagram ad.

Read it.

It has paragraphs, bullet points and "what I believe in." 

It looks like a business proposal, not an ad.

The client either didn't know the format... or he was being kind and let it slide.

I didn't know what I was doing.

No mentor. 
No course. 
No idea what "copy" even meant.

I just said yes and figured it out.

That was years ago.

Now I've done 3,500+ projects. Generated millions for clients. Teach thousands of students.

But I started HERE. With this.

You're not defined by where you start.

You're defined by where you want to go. And who you want to become.

Everyone's first project is embarrassing.

Ship it anyway.

Everyone wants to leave Pakistan.

I get it. 

I've thought about it too.

But then I look at what I've built from here.

A business. 
A team. 

Foreign clients who don't care where I'm sitting as long as I deliver.

All from the same country people are desperate to escape.

The passport is weak. 
The electricity is unreliable. 
The banks ask too many questions.

And still - we compete globally.

Every Pakistani who makes it is playing on hard mode. 

And winning anyway.

So no, I'm not planning my exit.

This thought crossed my mind when I saw a message from someone today who said she landed her first gig after exploring copywriting. 

Same challenges as everyone else but not willing to quit. She made it. She'll make it no matter where she is.

There are two worlds on LinkedIn.

World 1: Real people with real jobs solving real problems.
World 2: Internet marketers talking to other internet marketers.

World 1 is raw. Organic. Authentic.
World 2 is AI comments. Posts for the sake of posts. Vanity metrics.

If you're in World 1, you're good.
If you're in World 2, you're in a bubble.

The clients you're trying to find? They're in World 1.

They don't care about your "10 tips to grow on LinkedIn."

They don't care about your follower count.

They have real problems. 

And they need to see the real side of you.

The real you solving real problems.

Break out of the bubble.

The real world is waiting.

I felt this before I saw the chart.

Mid-2023, my Fiverr revenue dropped 90% in a single month.

I blamed myself. 

Thought my skills weren't good enough. 

Then I realized it wasn't me.

Fiverr was built for cheap gigs. 
Low budgets. 
Quick turnarounds. 
"Good enough" quality.

AI killed that entire market.

There are two types of clients.

1. People with money who want quality.
2. People without money who just need it done.

The second type used to go to Fiverr.

Now they use ChatGPT.

Writers on Fiverr got hit the hardest. 

The clients who need quality? They were never on Fiverr to begin with.

If you're still grinding on Fiverr hoping it comes back...

It won't.

Build your personal brand. 
Move to Upwork. 
Position yourself for clients who pay for thinking, not typing.

How I Do 3-5 Client Interviews Every Week...

Channel 1: Upwork (But Not How You Think)

Everyone's on Upwork sending the same generic proposals to the same jobs that 50 other people are applying to.

I stopped doing that years ago.

Instead, we use Upwork strategically. We focus on jobs where we can stand out, use boosted proposals wisely, and position ourselves as specialists, not generalists.

Channel 2: Private Community Jobs

LinkedIn job posts? Those get 1,000+ applications.

But there are private groups and communities where niche jobs get posted. Ecommerce groups. Marketing communities. Agency networks.

These jobs get 10-20 applicants max because most people don't even know they exist.

Channel 3: Network Partnerships

We partner with communities that have students or members who need copywriting.

Example: An ecommerce course has 500 students. Some of them need copy for their stores. We become their preferred copywriting partner.

Channel 4: Curated Job Hunting

We use tools to find jobs that match our exact expertise and apply strategically.

You're either focused on business development or fulfillment. 

Not both.

If you're great at writing, hire someone to hunt for clients.

If you're great at sales, hire someone to handle delivery.

You break free from a job because you want control.

You go solo. 
Do everything yourself. 
Win.

Then you scale.

And suddenly the very thing that made you win is the thing holding you back.

You can't do everything anymore.

You have to let go.

Delegating felt like losing control. 

Because the real prison isn't leaving the job.

It was believing I had to do everything myself.

The hardest part of scaling is unlearning the solo mindset that got you your first clients.

2017: 100% of my income came from clients.

Every dollar earned by my own hands. No safety net.

Client leaves? Panic.

2022: 70% client work. 30% teaching.

Started The Laptop Living. Shared what I learned. People paid for it.

Client leaves? Still eating.

2025: 50% client work. 40% teaching. 10% investments and products.

Multiple streams. Multiple safety nets.

This is the evolution nobody talks about.

Freelancing is the starting point. Not the destination.

If 100% of your income depends on you showing up tomorrow, you don't have a business.

You have a job you created for yourself.

Build the next stream before you need it.

The other day I was on a call with someone who has won over 50+ awards in his career. 

And on the call, he treated me like a friend...

Not a vendor from a third-world country.

That's American business culture.

They listen. 
They treat you as an equal. 
They don't care where you're from if you can deliver.

I have a client-facing role now where I meet clients on behalf of my client. 

Every call reminds me how open this culture is.

They want the best out of you. 
And they're not threatened by it.

Someone sitting in Multan can work on a project in Manhattan.

That wasn't possible 20 years ago.

We complain about Pakistan's problems. 

And they're real.

But we also have access to the most open business culture in the world.

That's a blessing we don't talk about enough.
