People are currently flying in from London, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Virginia, Montréal, and Toronto to join us here. But I had to ask myself a tough question last week...
 
How much of this is my ego?

How much is me hosting this mastermind in Mexico my ego wanting to be able to say "I'm hosting a retreat in Tulum."
 
So I asked myself why. Several times. To get beyond the surface level answers. This is what came up.
 
Why am I hosting this retreat?
 
1. Because I want to be able to expense a trip to a sunny destination as a business expense. And I figured others would also appreciate that.
   
2. Because I want to BE someone who hosts international retreats. Yes, part of that is ego. But it's also about me continuing to shift my identity. This is me Doing Bold Sh*t.
   
3. Because I've attended masterminds in Bali, Mexico, Toronto, and Austin in the last few years. And I experienced major shifts in both myself + my business each time. The best way to learn a new language? Immersion. Putting yourself in an environment where everyone speaks the language normalizes it. It pushes you to learn. And the best way to shift what you believe is possible? Changing your environment + who you spend time with. You can get some of this from being part of an online community with the right people. But massive breakthroughs happen when you get out of your house. Away from your dishes, laundry, and all the little things that act as constant subtle reminders of "who you are". The more drastic your environment change, the more life can start to feel like a blank canvas.
   
4. Because I know I'm on this planet to help others rewrite what they believe is possible for themselves.
 
So yeah, a small part of me is hosting a retreat in Mexico so my ego can pat itself on the back.
 
But a bigger part of me is intentionally bringing together a group of awesome humans by the ocean because I know us being here together is gonna unlock magic for all of us.

I'm coming to a city near you. After everyone left Tulum, I spent an extra week in Mexico to reflect + refuel. And 2 things became abundantly clear....
 
1. The intimate mastermind in the sun will become an annual event.
2. We're going to start doing more international in-person events. Some will be dinner meetups, others will be workshops, and a few will be bigger transformational experiences.
 
Starting with:
 
→ Athens in May
→ Ottawa in June
→ Paris in October
→ London in October
→ Toronto in October
 
And we might even host a little something in Thunder Bay in April.
 
So if you know someone in those places who you think might like to attend, tag them. And if you'd like us to do something in a city that's not listed, say where.
 
Looking forward to spending time with you face to face.

I just signed an agreement where the DEPOSIT I have to pay is $21,770. I realized that's about how much I had in credit card debt 10 years ago (with another $7k ish owing on a line of credit on top of that). It's wild how much things have changed in the last decade.

I credit much of the shift to Doing Bold Sh*t.

And this simple strategy I live by:

1. Do Bold Sh*t that scares you.
2. Reflect + learn as you go. 
3. Share what you're learning to teach + inspire others. 
4. Repeat.

→ 2 hours to draft the outline. 
→ 4.5 hours to edit + refine the script. 
→ 27 minutes to record. 
→ 1 hour to edit.
 
8 hours of uninterrupted focus work to create a single video that I can only use for 3 weeks because it's for an upcoming live event.

Why would I spend this much time on a video that's less than 5 minutes long?
 
1. It's making it easy to enroll people into my training on the 27th.
2. I feel more clear + confident with my messaging from the process.
3. I know the next one won't take nearly as long. Practice, baby!
 
There's loads of tools, mentors, and maps to make your journey easier.
 
But at some point, you just got to do the work.

I don't know that I've ever made a promise like this. But if you're a coach who wants to get more clients + make more impact: watch this. You'll know exactly where you need to focus. In just 71 seconds. 

But it'll only work if....

You're honest with yourself.

And you listen to my instructions to not choose 7. 😂

In 2023, I hit a wall. 
My LinkedIn content was getting loads of views, I had plenty of followers, people were liking and commenting and even sending DMs that I was "inspiring" or sharing "great insights." But none of it mattered. 

My business had plateaued and I wasn't signing new clients.

I'd wake up every day thinking about what to post, spend hours commenting on other people's content, and do all the things the LinkedIn gurus said you sure do.
But trying to win the popularity contest wasn't magically bringing in clients. And it had me worried. If things didn't change, I might have to go back to working for someone else.

Then something hit me.

When I first launched Growth Habit, I signed 12 coaching clients in the first two weeks. Twelve. I didn't have a big following, I wasn't posting every day, and I definitely didn't have some fancy content strategy.

So what the hell had changed since then?

I'd lost sight of what actually worked. I'd gotten so caught up in creating more content and chasing engagement that I'd forgotten the thing that made me successful in the first place. I wasn't creating demand anymore, I was just creating noise.

So I stopped.

I stopped trying to chase the algorithm and stopped doing what people with hundreds of thousands of followers said I "should" be doing. I went back to what actually worked: understanding what needs to happen in someone's brain for them to go from "that's helpful" to "I need to work with this person."

Here's the part that blows my mind:

In the last two years my revenue has more than doubled while my LinkedIn views have dropped dramatically. I spend less time on here but am having more impact. Because I’ve focused on creating demand instead of chasing engagement.

• People using engagement pods to artificially boost their content (and make you feel inferior about getting less likes). 
• AI slop posts (with robots replying to each other in the AI filled comments).
• Getting asked “are you taking on new clients?” (before being slapped across the face with a pitch).
 
But if you can avoid those pitfalls, you’ll find….
 
Incredible humans + opportunities. 
The most supportive online community. 
A platform where most people are logging in for leadership, learning, business, and growth.
 
And....

If you learn how to navigate LinkedIn LIKE A HUMAN (and use all it’s incredible features), you can chart your own path. You can get your message out in a place where the average household income is over $100k for more than half of the people on the platform. 

You can build a business doing impactful work.
