If I had to teach someone cold email from scratch, here's what I'd tell them:

For getting replies, focus on:

1. Real triggers
2. Specific pain
3. Proof that's actually believable

Too many people here just blast templates. But that's not enough anymore.

You need triggers to be relevant.
You need pain that connects to their actual situation.

Two examples you can steal:

"Saw you're hiring 10 SDRs. Usually means ramp time is killing quota."

vs.

"I noticed you work in sales."

One gets replies. One gets deleted.

For the ask, I'd focus on:

1. Giving value before asking for time
2. Making the next step super easy

"Do you have 15 minutes?" doesn't work anymore.

"Mind if I send over the 3-step process we used?" does.

Here's my actual template:

"Hi [Name],

Saw you're [trigger].

Usually that means [pain].

We helped [Company] go from [before] to [after].

They saw [result] in [timeframe].

Mind if I share how?"

That's it.

Everyone overthinks this.

Perfect subject lines. AI personalization. Fancy tools.

But if you nail trigger + pain + value, nothing else matters.

One more thing that works better than anything:

Free work.

"Mind if I build you a custom lead list for your new SDR team?"

That gets replies every time. You're solving their problem before they ask.

It's simple, I know... but it works.

If I had to teach someone list building from scratch, here's what I'd tell them:

For coverage, focus on:

1. Multiple data sources (one source = missing 40% of your market)
2. Cross-referencing to fill gaps
3. Never trusting a single data provider

Too many people here just pull a list from Apollo and start blasting.

That's not a strategy.

For enrichment, I'd focus on:

1. Validating every email before sending
2. Adding context that makes it relevant
3. Scoring leads so you know who to prioritize

The difference is the work you do before you send.

For precision, I'd focus on:

1. Tiering your list (not all leads are equal)
2. Matching message to segment
3. Spending more time on fewer, better leads

Everyone wants the perfect cold email template.

But if you're sending to the wrong people, no template saves you.

The list is the strategy. Everything else is execution.

1. My headline

Your headline should scream exactly what you specialize in.

When someone lands on your profile, there's zero confusion about what you help with.

I use the formula: "I help X achieve Y through Z"

So your ideal client knows instantly you’re the right person for that.

Mine is: “Helped 300+ companies scale revenue with AI & Tech”

If your headline is vague, no one remembers you.

2. My content

I stopped posting what I wanted to talk about.

I started answering the burning questions my ideal clients already have.

If they struggle with lead generation, I break that down in detail.

How do you find those questions?

Ask yourself: What are they struggling with right now?

In my case, my ideal client was me 2 years ago.

So I spend time thinking: What kept me up at night when I was at that stage?

That's your content goldmine.

For me, those questions became my content pillars:

→ Workflows and automations
→ Tech stack breakdowns
→ GTM strategies (outbound, content, ads)
→ Operations and systems
→ Lessons from my founder journey

Every piece of content I create is focused on helping B2B business owners and teams increase revenue through technology.

The goal is giving away so much tactical value that people see you as their trusted advisor, before they ever talk to you.

3. My proof

It's not enough to say what you do.

You have to prove you can actually deliver.

- Testimonials
- Achievements
- Case studies
- Screenshots
- Real data

If you claim you get X results, show data. Show client wins.

People need evidence before they trust and invest in you.

9 Truths I’ve Learned by 30 

(That I wish I’d known at 20)

1) Do > Consume

In 2020, I read 59 books in one year. I made 0$

In 2025, I read 2 books and our business generated multiple 7 figures.

In my early twenties, I was always the guy who knew everything about self-improvement and business.

I was reading books for CEOs when I hadn't even started a side project.

Consuming feels like progress. It's not.

You can spend a lifetime reading and never actually move forward.

2) You can't lose if you don't stop

I've spent 3 years in GTM now.

My goal: be known as one of the top people worldwide helping businesses grow with technology.

That takes years and there's no shortcut.

Businesses come and go.

But the authority you build in an industry? That stays with you.

It only disappears if you restart something new every 3 months.

3) You can only connect the dots looking backward

So many decisions didn't make sense when I made them.

But 10 years later, you look back and see how everything connects.

But for the dots to connect, you have to make decisions first.

4) Posting content is a luck mutiplier

Content has been the biggest hack in my life.

You just become a magnet for interesting people and interesting opportunities.

5) No one is coming to save you

People complain about the system. About AI. About their boss. About their upbringing. Their traumas because it feels comforting to have people feeling bad you.

Everyone got different cards dealt.

But no one will ever care about your life more than you.

You have to save yourself because no one else will.

6) Find your infinite games and your infinite people

For me the ultimate happines is finding great people to build great things with.

That is a game that is fun to play and that has no end.

That's what I'm optimizing for now.

7) Your growth is measured by the uncomfortable conversations you are willing to have

I've seen people stay stuck for years because they're avoiding one conversation.

The conversation they know they need to have but keep putting off.

The people who move fast in life have the hard talk today, not next month.

8) Micro Speed - Macro Patience

Most people are extremely impatient but have zero long-term vision.

Flip it.

Have a 10-year vision. But act fast today.

9) The world is changed by your action not by your opinion

Everyone wants to have impact and change things.

It's easy to comment and easy to have opinions.

But what really matters is what you do.

Not what you say.

Are you still dependent on your network or cold acquisition for lead generation?

Organisch posten is tegenwoordig geen betrouwbare groeistrategie meer. 

Je hebt totaal geen controle over wie je bereikt en je bent compleet afhankelijk van een random algoritme.

En ook al krijg je misschien 10.000 impressies, wie zijn dat dan?

Veel LinkedIn coaches adviseren meer emotioneel of prikkelend te schrijven om zo viraler te gaan.

Maar duizenden impressies van mensen die niet in je doelgroep vallen, helpen je bedrijf niet verder.

Daarom ben ik zo’n voorstander van LinkedIn Ads.

In plaats van hopen dat je je doelgroep bereikt, bepaal je zelf wie je content ziet. 

In de Campagne Manager maak je je perfecte doelgroep aan en promoot je je content rechtstreeks op hun tijdlijn. 

Daardoor bestaat elke impressie uit iemand binnen je ideale klantprofiel. 

En iedereen die interesse toont via je content, profiel of website, kun je opnieuw retargeten met meer content. 

Zo blijf je wekelijks zichtbaar bij een warme doelgroep die je dan steeds beter leert kennen.

Veel ondernemers denken nog steeds dat LinkedIn Ads te duur zijn.

Wat de meesten nog niet weten, is dat LinkedIn sinds een paar jaar een advertentieformat heeft waarbij je persoonlijke content kunt inzetten als advertentie. 

De kosten per klik liggen daarbij vaak maar rond de €0,30!

Als je je bedrijf wilt laten groeien, zijn er 3 dingen nodig:
- Als je je bedrijf wil groeien moet je er voor zorgen dat meer potentiële klanten je zien.
- Daarna moet je ervoor dat degene die interesse tonen je blijven zien.
- En uiteindelijk moet je die aandacht converteren naar afspraken.

LinkedIn Ads Specialist | Expert in LinkedIn Thought Leader Ads 🚀

Ik gaf vorig jaar €26.735 uit aan LinkedIn Ads en genereerde daar €166.450 omzet mee. Dat is een ROAS (return on ad spend) van 6X.

Dit zijn alleen deals die aantoonbaar uit LinkedIn Ads kwamen.
Referenties en terugkerende klanten zijn hierin niet meegerekend.

Dit is het systeem dat ik heb gebruikt:

Stap 1: Gerichte targeting
In de Campagne Manager heb ik doelgroepen aangemaakt op basis van branche, bedrijfsgrootte en functietitel. Geen freelancers en geen concurrenten, maar coaches, consultants en agencies met 2 tot 50 medewerkers.

Het grote verschil met organisch posten is controle.

Organisch heb je geen idee wie je bereikt. Met ads weet ik dat elke impressie en klik afkomstig is van mijn ideale doelgroep.

Stap 2: Promoot content over problemen & behoeftes
Slechts een klein deel van mijn doelgroep was direct geïnteresseerd in LinkedIn Ads. Daarnaast kenden ze mij nog niet.

Daarom startte ik niet met een pitch, maar met content die inspeelde op herkenbare problemen, frustraties en behoeften.

 Op deze manier genereerde ik aandacht en interesse bij een bredere groep.

Stap 3: Geïnteresseerden toevoegen aan een retargeting lijst
Iedereen die interactie toonde met mijn Ads, mijn profiel bezocht of mijn website bekeek, voegde ik toe aan een retargetinglijst.

Deze lijst is super waardevol, omdat deze bestaat uit mensen die exact voldoen aan m’n ideale klant profiel en interesse hebben getoond in m’n content.

Stap 4: Nurture de warme doelgroep
Vervolgens bereikte ik deze warme doelgroep wekelijks opnieuw met relevante content via retargetingcampagnes.

Ik promootte content over mijn oplossing, mijn aanpak, klantverhalen en persoonlijke context. Doordat mensen mij elke week voorbij zagen komen, groeiden naamsbekendheid en vertrouwen stap voor stap.

Stap 5: Conversie campagnes
In de laatste fase lanceerde ik conversiecampagnes om mijn warme doelgroep te activeren. Daarbij combineerde ik lead gen ads en InMail ads.

Daarnaast benaderde ik iedereen die via de ads mijn profiel bezocht of interactie toonde met mijn content ook via DM.

Alles bij elkaar resulteerde dit in een ROAS van ongeveer 6x.

Dit zijn deals die ik organisch nooit had kunnen genereren (m’n organische content komt amper boven de 2.000 impressies). 

LinkedIn Ads geven mij de volledige controle over:
– wie ik bereik
– hoe vaak ik zichtbaar ben
– en wie ik opnieuw kan benaderen op basis van interesse

De komende maanden ga ik dit verder optimaliseren.

Ik verhoog mijn maandbudget van €2.000 naar €4.500 om te zien wat er gebeurt wanneer ik m’n ad budget meer dan verdubbel. 

Zou mooi zijn als de omzet dan ook keer 2 zou gaan 😛

En er is maar één manier om daarachter te komen!

Een ondernemer vroeg me laatst:
“Wat garandeer jij eigenlijk met je LinkedIn Ads traject?”

Ik had kunnen zeggen: “Minimaal 7x return on ad spend in 90 dagen.”
(Zoals veel agencies doen).

Maar ik gaf een eerlijk antwoord.
Want niemand kan je harde resultaten garanderen.

Waarom niet?

Omdat er tientallen variabelen zijn waar niemand volledige controle over heeft:
– Je aanbod
– Je doelgroep
– Je positionering
– Je sales proces
– Je content

Je ontdekt wat werkt pas als je het test. Niet daarvoor.

Dus wat garandeer ik wel?
✔ Dat jouw perfecte doelgroep jou gegarandeerd ziet (geen random organische impressies)
✔ Dat iedereen die interesse toont jou wekelijks ziet terugkomen in hun feed
✔ Dat we gesprekken gaan starten met mensen die jou al kennen en weten wat je doet
✔ Geen salesy advertenties, maar waardevolle content die autoriteit opbouwt
✔ Een strategisch systeem dat continu test, leert en verbetert op basis van data

Ik garandeer geen sprookjes.

Ik garandeer de juiste strategie, de juiste targeting, het juiste proces en volledige focus op jouw resultaat.

Want ondernemen is nooit zonder risico.

Maar de ondernemers die wel durven te investeren en risico’s te nemen?

Dat zijn vaak degene die het snelst groeien.

Een van mijn favoriete momenten van het jaar is de eerste week van januari.

Iedereen neemt even gas terug.
Het perfecte moment om even stil te staan en vooruit te kijken.

Sinds een paar jaar ga ik altijd naar de bergen in Zakopane, Polen.
Ik huur een appartement midden in het gebergte.

Elke ochtend begint met een versgemalen kop koffie en een uitzicht waar je vanzelf rust van krijgt.

Daar neem ik de tijd om alles uit te werken:
Wat ging er goed vorig jaar?
Wat ging er niet goed?
Waarom was dat zo?
Wat wil ik eigenlijk echt in mijn leven?
En hoe kan ik mijn bedrijf nog verder laten groeien?

Iets aan berglandschap geeft gewoon extra focus en rust in je hoofd.

Mijn plan voor 2026 is helder:
- Minder in mijn bedrijf werken
- Betere systemen
- Team uitbreiden
- Meer bereik & impact

Daarom ga ik dit jaar meer inzetten op video content, een content coach en copywriter erbij halen, en mijn LinkedIn Ads budget verdubbelen.

Dat betekent dus hogere kwaliteit content en ads met verdubbeling van m'n bereik.

De volgende stap daarna wordt een dedicated sales assistent om al dat extra bereik te converteren naar gesprekken en klanten.

En als dat leidt tot meer omzet, verhoog ik elke maand mijn advertentiebudget om zo gestructureerd mijn bereik en bedrijf op te schalen.

Dat vind ik het mooie aan LinkedIn Ads, dat ik de volledige controle heb in wie ik bereik en hoeveel. 

Wanneer je uiteindelijk een systeem hebt dat je bereik vergroot en zichtbaarheid converteert dan heb je een groeimotor dat je bedrijf structureel laat opschalen.

Ik zie de laatste tijd steeds meer mensen klagen over ‘verkopen op LinkedIn’.
Sommigen worden er zichtbaar boos van.

Haatreacties. Cynische comments. Zichtbare irritatie.

En eerlijk gezegd snap ik dat niet zo goed.

LinkedIn is een business platform.
Mensen komen hier om te netwerken en ja, ook om business te doen.

Als iemand iets aanbiedt dat niet interessant voor je is, dan scroll je toch gewoon door?

Je gaat ook niet boos doen tegen een billboard langs de snelweg omdat het je iets probeert te verkopen? Je kijkt ernaar, of je kijkt weg.

Niemand dwingt je om te kopen.

En begrijp me niet verkeerd, ik hou er ook niet van als mensen met loze beloftes strooien, maar ik denk dat de meesten daar nu wel doorheen prikken.

Ik vind dat als je echt iets van waarde biedt dat mensen helpt, dan mag je dat gewoon verkopen.

Benieuwd hoe jij hiernaar kijkt.

Organisch kom ik op LinkedIn zelden boven de 2.000 impressies.
En toch heb ik een manier gevonden om daar doorheen te breken, zonder emotionele of persoonlijke posts.

Misschien herken je dit. Je post over je relatie, een ongeluk, je vakantie of je kinderen en het bereik van je post schiet door het dak. 

Maar zodra je iets zegt over je aanbod, kom je amper boven de 1.000 impressies.

Bij mij werkt dat precies zo.

Wanneer ik over LinkedIn Ads schrijf, kom ik organisch ook nauwelijks boven de 2.000 uit.

Maar als ik iets heel persoonlijks deel, zoals over mijn huwelijk, gaat het in één keer richting de 40.000.

Maar zo wil ik niet zichtbaar zijn bij mijn doelgroep.

Ik wil niet afhankelijk zijn van emotionele verhalen om bereik te krijgen.
Ik wil gezien worden om mijn vakinhoud, mijn inzichten en mijn expertise.

Alleen precies dat soort content krijgt organisch vaak het minste bereik.

Daarom gebruik ik LinkedIn Thought Leader Ads.

Hiermee kan ik zelf bepalen wie mijn content ziet en hoe vaak ze mij voorbij zien komen. 

Zo kan ik posts die organisch blijven hangen rond de 2.000 impressies, structureel onder de aandacht brengen bij 10.000 tot 30.000 mensen uit mijn ideale doelgroep.

Dat had ik organisch nooit voor elkaar gekregen.

Daarnaast kan ik iedereen die interactie toont met mijn content, mijn profiel bezoekt of mijn website bekijkt toevoegen aan een retargetinglijst.

Die mensen zie ik daarna wekelijks opnieuw terug met nieuwe content. 

Zo leren ze mij beter kennen, zien ze mij vaker en groeit het vertrouwen.

Voor mij is dit een veel logischere manier om zichtbaar te zijn.
Professioneel, inhoudelijk en bij de juiste mensen.

En als je je afvraagt wat het kost om je doelgroep te bereiken:
ik betaal gemiddeld €25 per 1.000 (relevante) impressies.
