The rest of the week, I’m an Account Manager specialising in driving strategic outcomes for clients through data-led insights and delivering high-impact marketing strategies.

To craft banging brand strategy, I:

👉🏻 Keep my finger on the pulse of what’s happening in their field

Applegarth Farm offers diners a daytime café and fine-dining evening experience. 

- In service, I was Shift Manager which involved assigning roles, creating table plans and staggering food orders so that both the kitchen and customers were satisfied.
- Other tasks included providing administrative support; checking and creating invoices for external suppliers and customers.
- Aided the assistant manager with Applegarth's marketing and social media. Tasks included taking photographs and helping manufacture social media content.

Applegarth adapted to the challenges of COVID-19 and started up a delivery service. I was part of a core team working together to package orders, check the quality of products and complete other operational tasks.

- Researching and identifying influencers and matching them to Shrine's four key categories.
- Reaching out to key influencers to arrange collaborations.

Runway East is focused on helping tech startups grow and thrive. My role varied from marketing & communications to events.

- Building rapport, anticipating the needs of and supporting RWE members. 
- Maintaining building standards and responding to issues quickly and safely.

- Creating internal marketing materials in line with brand guidelines. 
- Reaching out to local businesses to create events/ opportunities for members. 
- Planning and executing in-house events.
- Administrative tasks, using multiple apps specific to RWE’s onboarding/ off-boarding and G suite. 
- When needed assisting with sales tours and following up with the sales team post-tour.

I spent the day as a representative of the ‘School of English’ for the University of Leeds: 

-  As a ‘student ambassador’, my main objective was to talk to potential students and their parents, answering their questions openly and ensuring they felt relaxed enough to ask anything.

Turns out… I loved it. 

Mercuri, The Tech Bros, Canva, ElevenLabs, and Hugging Face teamed up to show what's possible when creative technology meets women in AI. 

The winning ideas?

 🥇 Trail Tales: A location-aware audio engine, fuelling your run with real-route adaptive storytelling.
(Demo highlight: A Wicked-inspired run around Big Ben… "Glinda, watch out! The Wizard’s catching up at 5.37/km".)

 🥈 XOXO Intelligence: A gossip-girl narrated AI news reporter blending language models with real-time trend analysis.

 🥉 SoulEcho: A voice-journalling system using speech-to-text and dialogue models for reflective self-insight.
(Because, at some point, we’ve all needed a reminder from our past self: “Do NOT double-message.”)

It was a pleasure to talk to the builders, a mix of students, first-time hackers, and founders, hearing about their experiences in the tech space, their future goals and chatting about the work we're doing at the Invest in Women Taskforce. 

Events like these are so important. They create visibility and give talented individuals the chance to flex their skills, practise pitching, and network. Who knows when you might meet your perfect co-founder?

The strange dichotomy of AI and reimagining traditionally 'male' roles 🤔

There's no doubt about it, tech, and specifically AI, remain male-dominated industries. 

The stats clearly show this:

•⁠ ⁠Just 16% of females have had a career in technology suggested to them (compared to 33% of males)
•⁠ ⁠Women hold 20% of UK tech roles
•⁠ ⁠With 22% female professionals working in AI/data science

And the pattern flips in so-called ‘softer’ sectors:

•⁠ ⁠14% of primary teachers in England are male
•⁠ ⁠With around 12% of NHS nurse positions held by men 

As conversations about the future of work grow alongside technological change, the entrenched narrative around gendered opportunities and expectations isn’t shifting at the same pace.

However, one consistent theme remains: the immeasurable value of humanness — connection, conversation, and authenticity.

Hidden beneath the fear-mongering headlines lies a powerful opportunity to rebalance outdated labels.

This begins with education, showcasing career paths that go beyond the ‘norm’.

We should actively be opening the doors to welcome women into tech and finance, while also creating space for men to explore fields like counselling or the arts.

Rather than seeing AI as the end of human connection, there’s an opportunity to spark generational change across industries - rejecting the idea of 'men's work' and 'women's work'.

Of course, this conversation extends far beyond a single post; intersectionality across race, class, and social barriers deserves its own attention.

But today, is there a micro-action you can take to set a new standard?
