And his return shows the power of superfandom.

Last week, Styles dropped his next album announcement: “Kiss all the time. Disco, occasionally.”

No dramatic countdowns. Just some subtle teasing for the hawk-eyed fans and a jumpscare insta post were needed to immediately DOMINATE social feeds. 

All because his fanbase is anything but ✨casual✨. 

It’s devoted, connected, and ready to react, turning a simple album announcement on a random Thursday in January into a global cultural moment.

What does this tell us?

→ Loyal superfans amplify hype organically without the need for over-the-top, drawn out campaigns.

→ Scarcity drives excitement. Surprise drops turn single moments into shared cultural experiences.

→ Legacy and timing matter. Years of authentic connection set the stage for a moment that feels inevitable, and oh so satisfying.

Naturally, reactive brand responses came thick and fast over the weekend.

But my unexpected fave was NHS England reminding the girlies to book their cervical screenings, leaning into Harry’s comeback while connecting it to a real-world outcome.

What makes this announcement even more fun is how perfectly it ties to the January 2016 trend blowing up right now.

Fans are already leaning into nostalgia and teenage cringe, sharing throwbacks to their awkward, excitable, unpolished selves. 
And for many, this also connects to their original love for Harry Styles, adding another layer of nostalgia.

That’s superfandom, nostalgia, and clever timing in action, driving massive cultural hype.

(Although slightly less ready for the Ticketmaster chaos for the inevitable tour 😅)

Some clients are trouble dressed as opportunities. Took me a while to learn that. If you're starting out, save yourself time and learn from my mistakes.

I did what any new business owner would do. Said yes to everyone. Out of desperate need for the work, I'd glaze over the red flags. Lie to myself. Convince myself they weren't that bad.

But the red flags are always that bad.

Now I vet every client before we work together.

I send over the information I need, explain what I can do for them, and ask for a small commitment fee to get started - to gauge how serious they are.

You'd be surprised how much that one step filters out.

And there are those who disappear when you ask for basic documents. This just happened to me. Getting information was like drawing blood from a stone.

I walked away.

Walking away when there's money on the table isn't easy. But I've got my business to a place where I can pick and choose who I work with.

If you're earlier in your journey, I get it. You can't always say no. But start noticing the red flags now. When you're in a position to walk away, you'll know exactly what to walk away from.

The way someone behaves in the first few conversations tells you everything about how the rest of the relationship will go.

I've received calls from clients who are reduced to tears and these are the toughest conversations I have.

One client had bought overseas fridges to resell in the UK. The fridges didn't sell. The debt piled up. His house got repossessed.

I stayed on the phone with him. Let him get it all out.

Many in my profession struggle to grasp that some clients need to feel understood and listened to on an emotional level before jumping straight into solutions.

They’re a human being going through a tough time. In my case, he couldn’t bear to tell his family, so I was the first person he shared with.

After listening to everything he had to say, I had to be honest:

"I'm sorry. The only thing I can do is refer you to a solicitor."

There was nothing I could offer. He'd gone too far for me to help.

That's one of the hardest parts of this job. Sometimes people call me and I know within minutes that I'm not the right person.

And the kindest thing I can do is tell them that straight away - not string them along.

I don't want every call I take to end with a deal. I want it to end with the caller knowing their options.

Sometimes, that's me. Sometimes, it's someone else.

I run a specialist alternative finance business.
