The rest of the week, I’m an Account Manager specialising in driving strategic outcomes for clients through data-led insights and delivering high-impact marketing strategies.

To craft banging brand strategy, I:
👉🏻 Research (i.e. stalk) my clients and their industries until I know them better than they know themselves
👉🏻 Keep my finger on the pulse of what’s happening in their field
👉🏻 Genuinely root for them and their business 

That’s the mix I use for my clients, and so far I’ve achieved some pretty insane results across 20+ CEOs and Founders including:

- £700k angel investment directly attributed to LinkedIn 
- Features in podcasts, panels, publications

Ultimately, people buy from people.

Today marks 3 years at Kurogo.

(Or 1,097 days of building CEO and Founders’ brands and leading strategy to be precise.☝🏻)

In numbers, it looks like this:

→ 37 client campaigns led
→ 2,634 posts published
→ 19 million impressions (!!)
→ 257,155 reactions

Yep, counted them all myself.

But it’s not just been all about the numbers (as much as I do love my spreadsheets).

In that time, I’ve also:

Attended 6 team socials 
Worked every role on the delivery team
Supported 7 clients at special in-person events
Secured a client as a lead sponsor of the Olivier Awards
Directed campaign video shoots from our London Studio
Built a client personal brand that led to a £750k in investment
Remotely worked from Bristol, London, Milan, Barcelona, Zadar and Cape Town

But by far, the best bits have been the clients I’ve worked with (4 of which have returned to work with me which means more than any impression count ever could!!) and my incredible teammates.

It’s been a huge 3 years of many highlights, wins and learnings at Kurogo - Personal Branding Agency. 

Very excited for whatever the next 1,097 days bring. 🪩

“Personal branding is cringe.”
Only until it works.

For one of my clients, it ended up bringing in £750,000 of their £1.5m investment raise.

No paid ads or big PR splash.

Just showing up consistently with a clear story about what they were building and why it mattered.

My dad lives in a small village. The kind of place where you still nod at strangers.

There's an old phone box on one of the streets. It hasn't worked in years. But someone in the village bought it from BT for £1, fitted some shelves, and filled it with books.

Now it's a library. Anyone is free to take home a book, provided they bring it back or replace it with another

It only works because people look out for each other.

Over 7,200 phone boxes across the UK have been turned into things like this. Libraries, art galleries, food banks. Communities keep things alive when the official services disappear.

There's something to be said for that. People stepping up instead of letting something rot ot waiting for someone else to fix it.

Thought I'd share.

He looked at the numbers and said,” I think you should consider closing this down."

These were the words of my accountant 4 years ago.

CDW turnover was about £12k a year. I was picking up extra work on the side just to keep things afloat.

I couldn't argue with him. The numbers didn't lie.

But I couldn't take his reasonable and logical advice either. Something inside didn’t want to let go.

That's the strange thing about those moments. Deep down, you know what you should be doing, but you just can’t do it.

I spent sleepless nights thinking about what giving up would mean. The knock-on effect on relationships and finances.

And, yeah, there was that part of me who’d feel shame and embarrassment of facing people who knew my plans, yet here I would be, back at square one.

“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” is so overused that it’s almost lost all meaning. But I can’t sit here and say it was true in my case.

I didn’t shut up shop. 

I didn’t let that period finish me off. 

The difficulties I faced changed how I thought and made me stubborn as hell. Refusing to stop is why I’m still here.

This wasn’t the case at the time, but now I’m glad I went through those choppy waters, because you learn so much more from failures than from successes.

The wins since have made me feel like a million bucks, but they teach me little. You’re shaped by your hardships.
