Today marks 3 years at Kurogo.

(Or 1,097 days of building CEO and Founders’ brands and leading strategy to be precise.☝🏻)

In numbers, it looks like this:

→ 37 client campaigns led
→ 2,634 posts published
→ 19 million impressions (!!)
→ 257,155 reactions

Yep, counted them all myself.

But it’s not just been all about the numbers (as much as I do love my spreadsheets).

In that time, I’ve also:

Attended 6 team socials 
Worked every role on the delivery team
Supported 7 clients at special in-person events
Secured a client as a lead sponsor of the Olivier Awards
Directed campaign video shoots from our London Studio
Built a client personal brand that led to a £750k in investment
Remotely worked from Bristol, London, Milan, Barcelona, Zadar and Cape Town

But by far, the best bits have been the clients I’ve worked with (4 of which have returned to work with me which means more than any impression count ever could!!) and my incredible teammates.

It’s been a huge 3 years of many highlights, wins and learnings at Kurogo - Personal Branding Agency.

“Personal branding is cringe.”
Only until it works.

For one of my clients, it ended up bringing in £750,000 of their £1.5m investment raise.

No paid ads or big PR splash.

Just showing up consistently with a clear story about what they were building and why it mattered.

Behind the scenes it was pretty simple:

Bad days at work are inevitable.

What makes the difference long term isn’t avoiding them or forcing yourself to “stay positive,” but learning how to respond when things don’t go your way.

You lose the sale. 
Opportunities don’t materialise.
Decisions are made without context or explanation.

Most people feel the frustration immediately, and understandably so. The problem is what happens next.

It’s easy to disengage, become cynical, or quietly lower your standards. Not as an active decision, but as a reaction.

The people who continue to progress tend to do something more deliberate.

They pause long enough to separate emotion from information.

Staying constructive in these moments doesn’t mean pretending it’s fine or suppressing how you feel. It means recognising that your response is one of the few things still fully in your control.

Asking questions like:
What part of this can I influence?
What is this situation actually showing me?
What would a more useful response look like right now?

Handled well, moments like these become data rather than damage.

While others stay stuck in frustration, you keep building capability, judgement, and credibility. Over time, that difference becomes visible.

This is often how real progress happens, quietly and consistently, before it ever looks like recognition.

If you’re dealing with a tough moment at work, you don’t need to rush past it or dramatise it.

Pause, look closely, and respond intentionally.

That’s usually where the leverage is.

The gap between average and exceptional is smaller than people think.
It’s mostly discipline.

More often it’s doing the same unglamorous work long after the novelty has worn off, when no one’s paying attention and you’re not even sure it’s making a difference yet.

Most people know what to do. Very few keep doing it.

They start strong, then slowly drift.
They’re engaged when it’s new, then lose interest once it turns into routine.
They mistake being busy for actually making progress.

Disciplined people tend to behave differently.

They make the work simpler.
They reduce the number of decisions they have to make.
They show up because that’s the standard they’ve set for themselves, not because they feel motivated that day.

Over time, this compounds in ways that are easy to underestimate.

People trust you more.
Your judgement improves.
Your output becomes more consistent.

And in most careers, that reliability is what separates the people who keep moving forward from the ones who stay stuck. 

You don’t need to be extraordinary to stand out.
You just need to keep showing up.

One of the fastest ways to stall your career is always being the smartest person in the room.

Throughout my career I’ve always tried to put myself in rooms where my ego feels uncomfortable. 

The one where:
• You ask more questions than you answer
• You realise how much you don’t know
• You have to stretch just to keep up

Being the “expert” is comfortable.
But comfort rarely builds new capability.

Growth comes from exposure.
From listening more than speaking.
From letting your assumptions get challenged.

If you’re always the most knowledgeable person in the room,
you’re probably optimising for validation, not development.

Bad for the ego.
Great for your career.

11 things I did this weekend that will make me more productive this week.

1. Reviewed what went well last week
2. Looked honestly at what didn’t
3. Planned this week yesterday 
4. Spent time with family
5. Went on a long walk
6. Went on a long run
7. Trained BJJ
8. Lifted weights
9. Took time fully offline 
10. Ate well and slept properly
11. Reset standards for the week ahead

P.S. I also drank a lot of coffee.

Not all feedback is equal. Learning that changes everything.

I’m a big fan of feedback.
I actively seek it out & ask for it.

But not all feedback deserves equal weight.

Here’s how I think about it:

1. Earned feedback
From people who’ve actually done what you’re trying to do. This is gold.

2. Well-intentioned feedback 
Helpful in spirit, but not grounded in experience. Acknowledge it but use your discernment on its helpfullness. Don’t overcorrect.

3. Unqualified criticism
Strong opinions with no experience. This gets ignored.

Most people stall because they either:
• block all feedback
• or chase all of it

Both are mistakes.

Progress comes from listening to the right voices and staying focused on the work. 

If you can find someone willing to share feedback who is ahead of you, do not be defensive, be open. This type of feedback can literally shave years off of your progress. 

Whose feedback has made the biggest difference for you?

If your work never feels uncomfortable, your career probably isn’t expanding.

Discomfort is usually a sign you’re learning something new.
A new skill. A bigger scope. A role you haven’t fully grown into yet.

That’s the core idea behind a growth mindset.

It’s the ability to reframe challenge, pressure, and uncertainty - not as proof you’re out of your depth, but as evidence you’re expanding it.

In practice, that looks like:
1. Taking on work before you feel fully ready
2. Building skills in motion, not in theory
3. Letting discomfort guide growth instead of avoiding it

The image sums it up simply:
growth happens when you change how you interpret the moment.

Uncomfortable doesn’t mean unqualified.
It usually means you’re doing the work that will take you further long-term.

10 things I wish I knew before I started posting on LinkedIn:

1. Posting & content is a skill you develop over time
2. You will want to stop when views are low, but you must keep going
3. Writing simple beats writing smart every time
4. Your early content will be average, but it’s the only way you learn what actually works
5. Posting consistently for a year will change your pipeline more than anything 
6. You can generate serious revenue if every post has a clear job: awareness, trust, or conversion
7. Most people you DM are more open and helpful than you expect if your message is clear and genuine
8. You will doubt yourself at every new level: first 10k, first viral post
9. Quantity, then quality – volume gives you the data to refine your positioning and message
10. One day you stop overthinking and start treating content like a system

You share value without evidence. Advice lands better when it’s backed by results, reps, or real examples.

3️⃣ Consistency
You post in bursts, then disappear. Reach compounds through showing up consistently, not when you feel motivated.

4️⃣ Credibility
Your profile doesn’t scream “expert.” If someone clicks through and hesitates, you lose them right there.

5️⃣ Conversion
No clear next step. Even interested people don’t know what to do next.

For me, the biggest shift wasn’t physical.
It was mental. I think more clearly, react less, and stop carrying yesterday’s stress into today.

Personally Ive been doing this over 15 years, but if I needed to develop the habit again I would focus on these things: 

1. Lower the bar at the start.
Ten minutes of movement beats an ambitious routine you quit after a week.

2. Decide the night before.
Lay your clothes out. Remove friction. Willpower is weakest first thing in the morning.

3. Never miss two days in a row.
Miss a day, come back the next - just don't let it happen twice in a row. 

Besides developing discipline, this is about creating a better state to think, decide, and operate from.

And that compounds faster than most people realise.

This is the hidden cost of not planning your day in sales.

1. You start the day without clear priorities
2. You default to reacting instead of deciding
3. Calls feel rushed instead of intentional
4. Questions stay surface-level
5. Discovery lacks depth
6. You lose control of the conversation
7. Objections start to pile up
8. Deals slow down
9. Targets start slipping
10. Sales starts to feel harder than it should

It starts with not having a plan and quickly can go downhill. 

Plan the day before it starts. Everything then gets easier.

One thing that’s taken me a while to learn:

Nothing in your career is permanent.

Not the losses.
But not the wins either.

I've both panicked when things felt messy and relaxed too much when things were going well. Both were mistakes.

What actually helps is learning to read the season you’re in.

When things aren't going well, it’s usually just a signal.
Something needs attention, adjusting, or letting go.

When things are clicking, that’s not the time to coast.
It’s the time to build momentum while you can. Keep your foot fully on the gas.

Regardless of the season however the only thing you can guarantee is that it will pass. Progress comes from staying focused through both & not overreacting to either.

Take what’s useful.
Apply it.
Move on.

What’s actually working for tech leaders building demand right now

1. Founder-led personal brands are the new demand gen

In B2B tech, the founder’s LinkedIn now beats the company page every time. I see it daily. A strong founder brand can build more pipeline than a paid campaign, because it talks about real customer problems in simple language. For early-stage SaaS, this is how you land your first serious users. For more established teams, it helps you:

A) Turn your founder into a repeatable growth channel
B) Shorten sales cycles because buyers already trust your thinking

2. Content-led GTM is replacing “demo-first” selling

The old “book a demo → get a trial → push to close” flow is fading. The best tech companies now ship value before they sell. They share their best frameworks, before-and-after stories, and decision models in public. Prospects use that content to self-qualify. By the time they talk to sales, they already believe in the approach. This keeps CAC stable while ad costs and outbound noise go up.

3. Team-led content wins attention faster than campaigns

Your product, sales, and CS teams hold the real stories. When your engineer explains how they solved a messy integration, or your CS lead breaks down how a client cut onboarding time in half, it hits harder than a polished case study. Tech companies that turn employees into creators multiply their reach by the size of the team and feel more human at the same time.

The tech companies still relying on cold outbound and brand-only pages are seeing costs rise while those building founder and team brands are scaling with less friction.

If you lead a SaaS or B2B tech company and you’re not using your people as your main growth channel yet, now is the time to start.

If I started again on LinkedIn from zero, here’s what I’d do to hit 10k.

I wouldn’t try to sound smart.
I’d try to be useful.

Here’s the exact 3-step content mix I’d follow:

1. Growth (60%)
Your only job early on is to get in front of new people.
That means:
- Easy to consume posts
- Broad but relevant ideas
- Quick lessons
- Simple stories
- Light inspiration
If someone can’t understand it in 10 seconds, it’s too complex.

2. Authority (30%)
Once attention is there, you earn trust.
This is where you go:
- More specific
- More detailed
- More opinionated
Frameworks, models, and clear points of view beat generic advice every time.

3. Conversion (10%)
Selling too early kills momentum.
Instead:
- Speak to real pains
- Be hyper-specific
- Use lead magnets sparingly

Conversion is about relevance, not pressure.

Most people invert this order.
That’s why growth feels slow.

Build reach first.
Then trust.
Then demand.

Not a single lead to show for it.

Here’s why most people fall into this trap:
They only post growth content.

Because it performs well & gets likes.

But they neglect authority content.

And that’s what will actually:
• Build trust
• Signal expertise
• Make buyers lean in
• Turn attention into revenue

Growth content attracts an audience.
Authority content converts that audience.

If your content only says:

“Look how fast I grew”
But never says:
“Here’s why you should trust me”

You’ll keep getting engagement without opportunity.

Post both.

Visibility gets you seen.

Authority gets you paid.

3️⃣ Create a repeatable cadence
You need to post content to grow your audience (2x per week), nurture trust (2x per week) & convert (1x per week) if you actually want to make money. 

4️⃣ Treat engagement as signals 
Respond to your comments to build relationships. Message prospects who comment or view your profile. 

5️⃣ Write interesting content 
If it doesn’t interrupt someone's pattern, they likely won't read it.

This is how personal brands generate:
- Revenue
- Inbound leads
- Long-term authority

If you want your expertise to create real opportunity, this is where to start.

The life you want is built by doing things you’d rather avoid.

Every single thing you want usually comes from repeating the same actions regardless of how you feel. 

Exercising daily. 
Prospecting daily.
Posting content daily. 

But because that’s how progress actually works. 
Making the decisions you already know you should make.

If you're not where you want to be, the gap usually comes down to:

The workouts you skip.
The conversations you postpone.
The focus you keep breaking.

Most people aren’t short on information.

They’re short on willingness.
