This photo of Jensen Huang at a Korean fried chicken spot in Seoul went viral.
But the person behind this wasn't Jensen.

His daughter Madison planned the entire thing.

She arrived in Korea a month in advance to scout local fried chicken spots.

And strategically picked a restaurant called Kkanbu Chicken (kkanbu = close friend in Korean, if you watched Squid Game, you may remember this).

She orchestrated a photo of three CEOs - Jensen, Samsung's Lee and Hyundai's Chung - catching up over fried chicken and beer.

(Something that Koreans do with their close friends after a long work day.)

The photo went viral across Korea.

And Jensen Huang went from well-known to well-liked overnight.

That's the power of personal branding.

It's no longer just about Nvidia the company.

It's about the person behind the company.

That's what creates the bond.

I watched this play out for lawyers who stopped relying on posts from their firms' Linkedin page to develop business. 

When they started sharing authentic stories and insights themselves through their own personal Linkedin, clients saw it and reached out naturally.

A post I wrote promoting my old law firm Gunderson Dettmer got 36,429 impressions. 
Here’s the 4 part framework I used. 

(You can apply it to spotlight your team, your practice group, or your firm without sounding promotional-y)

It’s called the Show, Don’t Tell framework:

1: The Hook
Start with a line that builds curiosity and pulls readers in.

2. The Moment
Share a specific story that shows how your team collaborates or supports each other.

3. The Emotion
What did that moment mean for you? Why did it matter? Make it relatable. 

4. The Takeaway
End with a reflection that signals what your firm values without saying it outright.

That’s it.
Four parts.
Zero cringey bragging.
And it works.

Try it the next time you write about your firm.

And when you do, screenshot the impressions you get. Leadership pays attention when you can say:

“Here’s a post I wrote that promoted our firm and reached 30,000+ people.”

Just because it's taking time does not mean that it's not happening.

It is happening. It just may be taking longer than we want it to.

I chose to practice tax law for the same reason I chose to start creating LinkedIn content. 

I love writing.

In tax, writing an email that distilled the IRS code into language that clients understood and can use to make decisions was oddly satisfiyng.

Now transferring a client's story into authentic LinkedIn content that resonates AND sometimes even brings them real leads (which happened 3 times in one week WOOP!)... gives me a jolt of energy 

I don't think it's realistic to love every part of your day.
I definitely didn’t love making tax structure charts for example. 

But finding a part of the day that you enjoy is special.  
And expanding it to take up more space in your day is a worthy endeavor.

When I was a 1L, recruiting felt nerve-wracking.
Everyone seemed confident.
I definitely didn’t feel that way.

I remember thinking:
How are people already networking? How do they know what to say?
I felt like I was already behind.
