There's a factor that increases dementia risk by up to 60%. But nobody measures it.

It sounds almost trivial, but isolation and absence of cognitive stimulation through conversation are one of the most decisive factors for dementia.

Yet we measure:

→ Heart rate
→ Sleep
→ Steps
...

But we never measure conversation, which are an essential part of health.

And we aren't talking about "grand-ma being a bit sad"...

We are talking about:
→ Accelerated cognitive decline
→ Dementia
→ Increased risk of strokes
→ Cardiovascular diseases
...

The brain evolved for dialogue. When conversation disappears:

Brain stimulation disappears and decline accelerates.

This isn’t emotional. It’s neurological.

Conversation is brain exercise.
The most natural kind.

Chronic loneliness in aging populations is the next structural time bomb in healthcare.

Not only emotionally.
Economically.

We are entering an era where the 65+ population is exploding. At the same time, family structures are shrinking, communities are fragmenting, and daily social interaction is collapsing.

Loneliness isn’t just rising.
It’s becoming structural.

And chronic isolation is a known accelerator of cognitive decline, depression, and loss of autonomy.

Now if we look at the current situation:

More elderly people.
Higher baseline isolation.
Earlier cognitive deterioration.
Longer dependency periods.
Massive care intensity.

Our healthcare systems are not designed to absorb this wave. They were designed for episodic intervention.

That mismatch is a giant threat.

Because cognitive decline is expensive.
Late-stage dependency is expensive.
Institutional care is expensive.

If chronic loneliness keeps compounding decline, we are looking at exponential cost curves in already overstretched systems.

This is not a “soft” social issue.

It’s a macroeconomic damocles sword.

We are structurally under-equipped for what’s coming.

The real question isn’t whether loneliness is sad.

It’s whether we are prepared for the financial and systemic shock that follows when millions age in isolation.

If the risk is structural, the response must be structural.

This is were AI might be the one solution to keep the health system together.

We hear “orphan”, and we picture a child. Unprotected. Yet another category of orphans is dramatically growing.

Picture an 84-year-old woman eating dinner by herself, with no one who would notice if she didn’t answer the phone tomorrow.

And yet, that reality is growing.

They’re called elder orphans.

Older adults with no spouse.
No children.
No close family support.

As populations age and families shrink, more people are reaching the last decades of life completely alone.

No built-in advocate.
No default caregiver.
No one naturally involved.

Our entire society quietly assumes someone is there.

That assumption give birth to one of the most heartbreaking sotuation of modern society.

When there is no one calling, no one visiting, the consequences are not symbolic… They’re clinical. 

Depression rises. Cognitive decline accelerates. Autonomy erodes faster than it should.

And while we use AI to optimize convenience and entertainment, a structurally vulnerable population remains largely invisible.

If technology is going to matter, it should matter here.

Not as a gadget.

As presence.

On average, dementia is diagnosed 2 to 5 years after it starts.
Not because it’s invisible. Because we misunderstand the first symptoms.

We look for memory loss.

But the earliest changes often appear in conversation.

Subtle shifts:
→ Sentences become shorter
→ Words become simpler
→ Pauses become longer
→ Stories lose detail
→ The person initiates less

Not alarming enough to trigger a test... Sometimes it is even barely perceptible.

Families adapt gradually, deem that as normal consequences of aging.
Doctors see snapshots so they can't really spot it.

Nobody sees the trajectory.

According to Alzheimer's Association, this delay is one of the main reasons diagnosis happens after significant damage is already done.

But across dozens of conversations, the pattern becomes clear.

Not a bad day.
A decline.
This is the gap.
Not detection.
Timing.

Question: What if we’ve been looking for the wrong first symptom all along?

ClawdBot… The AI that actually does things… Especially getting you hacked…

A little while ago, an Austrian developper launched a great project… ClawdBot.

As always when something new happens, Linkedin’s « experts of everything » started to explain how to put your entire life in the hands of this new tech…

And the problem with the rise of AI, is that now, people with 0 tech knowledge can play with what used to be rederved to texh saavy folks.

It is a good thing…

But in the same time, the average user has no clue about:

- how systems work, 
- what is production ready,
- what should be tested in sandboxes,
- how to make sure they don’t put their whole AUTH tokens online for everyone to steal…

So the situation now:

There are tens of thousands of people using ClawdBot on their macines with :

- their ports open on the wild,
- their critical software access,
- their auth token already for sale on the dark web.

Some are being directly attacked…
Some are being used to attack (and will be considered legally responsible for it)…

With great power comes great responsibility…

When you use tech tools that require you to do complex confirguration you don’t understand: 

- check the internet to know if it’s safe,
- don’t listen to linkedin,
- ask an engineer…

At the age of AI, everything goes at exponantial speed… Especially disasters.

As I switched to health tech... I was scared to look stupid. Fear holds back talented minds from going for big challenges. But here's what I've learned:

When you are the idiot in the room (yes, you will be), you grow the urgency to learn obsessively...

And as I started talking with MDs and PhDs, I discovered that, very few people dismiss you, and a lot of them respect the effort as long as you respect the discipline.

In any room you enter, regardless of the baggage, you can show up with what you've learned and end up being acknowledged when you deserve it.

Sometimes, your ignorance can even open stimulating thought experiments.

I was expecting judgment, I received encouragement and guidance.

These small encouragements together with the admiration of the people you talk to build an incredible drive.

We tend to cap ourselves according to the self-perception of who we are today...

But who we are today is not written in stone.

If you have a passion that seem forbidden, just change your timeline:

Stop thinking at a 1 year horizon, and think 5 or 10... Then take the first step.

Eventually, you will find yourself in places you couldn't imagine.

No matter what you start, if it is new... You will look like an idiot in the beginning, so make the struggle worth it, and shoot for something that seem out of reach.

Bryan Johnson thinks our generation might see immortality... If that’s true, we should prepare now, because there is a big problem with that:

Not dying, as we tend to interpret it, is the persistence of an ensemble of parameters that are enough to consider there is a coherent continuity of the identity.

Yet, when you are confronted to aging, memory and cognitive decline, you understand something very troubling:

Death is not a single event. It is not a switch.
Everyday we die a little bit. 

We tend to see identity as an isolated self-determining artefact, while in reality, it is a complex superposition of multiple interconnected layers.

- Our body
- Our energy
- Our memory 
- Our consciousness 
- Our meaning to ourselves
- Our meaning to others

If we were to wake up tomorrow without any memory...
Or with all our memories but brain dead...

Could we really say that what was us yesterday survived?

Death is commonly perceived as a clear frontier, when it is in reality more of a tolerance threshold toward the loss. 

The self is still the self, as long as the remaining is sufficient to consider a continuity.

Now when it comes to immortality, the issue is: if we know increasingly well how to repair the body... What about the mind?

The brain is different. It is plastic, yes. It can adapt, compensate.
But adaptation is not restoration.

Once the networks that support memory and identity are deeply damaged, we don’t know how to rebuild what was there before.

And the parts of us that made us ourselves in the past are gone. So did we survive? 

If we aspire to immortality, we should all prioritize cognitive health prevention so the body stays inhabited by what truly makes us who and what we are.

This is the reason why neuroscience and cognitive science obsess me...

There is a very deep philosophical side to it, something beyond human health and more about human essence.

In a few years, with AI, House MD episodes might fit into a TikTok…

House is fiction, of course.

But it introduced something very real to the general public:

Differential diagnosis.

The process of exploring hypotheses, ruling them out, and finding the one explanation that fits.

In reality, this doesn’t happen in dramatic conference rooms.

It happens quietly in hospitals every day (with hopefully fewer passive-aggressive comments).

And it truly is the intellectual core of medicine.

Physicians reviewing symptoms.  
Challenging assumptions.  
Searching for what others might have missed.

What’s changing is that, for the first time, they’re not doing it alone.

At places like Mayo Clinic and Stanford Health Care, AI systems are already being used to detect patterns and signals that would otherwise remain invisible.

Not making the decision.

But expanding the search.  
Adding hypotheses.  
Extending the physician’s cognitive reach.

Differential diagnosis has always been a search problem.

AI is becoming a powerful new instrument in that search.

And for patients with rare or complex conditions who sometimes spend years without answers, this represents something very concrete:

A new chance to be seen.
A new chance to be understood.
And maybe, finally, a diagnosis.

Ce prospect a failli me coûter 20 000€.

Tout ça à cause d'une zone grise du RGPD.

Personne ne maîtrise vraiment le RGPD en B2B.
Ni les "experts outbound".
Ni les outils.
Ni moi.

Je le sais parce que je suis en train de le vivre.

La semaine dernière, un prospect m'a envoyé une demande RGPD complète.
3 parties.
DPO de Pharow en copie.
Questions précises sur la source, l'heure et le moyen d'obtention de ses données.

Le mec savait exactement ce qu'il faisait.
J'ai prit un KO.

Et je suis censé être l'expert.
Savoir d'où vient la donnée.
Comment elle est générée.
Sur quelle base légale je l'utilise.

Sauf que j'ignorais un détail.

La plupart des outils ne "détiennent" pas les emails.
Ils les génèrent par algorithme.
À partir de sources publiques.
LinkedIn, registres d'entreprises, mentions légales.

Ce mec s'était fait blacklister de Dropcontact en 2023.
Il pensait être tranquille.
Pharow l'a reconstitué et je l'ai récupéré.

Ce que cette situation m'a fait réaliser :

La plupart des gens qui font de l'outbound ne sauraient pas répondre à ce type d'email.

Parce que ça n'arrive qu'aux autres, 
Parce que maintenant les outils sont compliant. 
Parce que personne n'a jamais vraiment appris la loi. 

On répète tous les mêmes phrases :
"C'est du B2B donc c'est OK."
"Intérêt légitime."
"Données publiques."

Mais personne ne sait vraiment où est la limite.

Ce message s'adresse à deux types de personnes.

Aux "experts outbound" :

Si demain tu reçois une demande RGPD,
Tu sais expliquer ta base légale ?
Tu sais documenter tes sources ?
Tu sais répondre sans t'incriminer ?

Aux personnes prospectées : 

Se faire retirer d'une base ne suffit pas. 
Tant que vos infos sont publiques, un autre outil peut les reconstituer. 
C'est ça la zone grise. 
Elle ne protège ni les prospecteurs, ni les prospectés. 

Je ne sais pas encore comment mon histoire va se terminer.
Le sujet est encore en cours.

Mais une chose est sûre :
L'outbound légal est sur une zone grise que personne ne veut vraiment éclaircir. (merci ?)
