Trained as a a linguist and cognitive neuroscientist of learning and memory, I accidentally found myself in L&D some 17 years ago and have never left. My mission has always been to translate the science of learning and human behavior in general to the practices, methods, and technologies in the space of learning and talent management to bring out the best in people and organizations.

I've held regional and global L&D roles, working with numerous vendors, government agencies, and education NGOs across the globe. For the past 10 years, I've also taught and consulted on various L&D and human capital topics, especially learning science, the psychology and neuroscience of leadership, learning experience design (LXD), training delivery, and learning technology, and skills-based performance management.

I sit on the Chief Learning Network (CLN) advisory board, I'm the former Panama lead for the Association for Talent Development (ATD), founder and former President of the Latin-American Association for the Innovation in Learning & Talent Development (ALIAT), a Brandon Hall award winner for "best AI-powered learning solution" (2025), and a regular speaker at national and international L&D events.

My year wouldn’t have been complete without my annual pilgrimage to the Philippines to work alongside some of the brightest L&D folks we have at TTEC—and 2025 was no different. Before closing out the year, my Philippines-based team and I hosted the 3rd annual "L&D Workshop on The Future of Learning," bringing together 45+ L&D leaders from across the Philippines who support dozens of our clients around the globe.

What an incredible event it was—once again—filled with nods, laughter, and hugs. The energy in the room was palpable: people asking thoughtful questions, sharing notes, diving into quizzes, and exchanging ideas with their learning partners.

We started by reflecting on our progress and the amazing accomplishments across the five key strategic priorities my team is driving (or helping to drive). From there, we dove deep into what’s next for 2026 as we continue to advance these top-of-mind priorities:

🧑‍💻 AI-driven learning solutioning, design & enablement (esp. our amazing, award-winning "Learning Wizards Suite")
🗣️ AI-driven training delivery (with a focus on personalized practice; esp. our cutting-edge, award-winning "RealSkill" solution)
 ℹ️ AI-driven knowledge management
 📊 AI-driven coaching and performance support (esp. our award-winning "Perform" solution)
 💡 Automation of L&D back-office processes (esp. our TRCY and OGRE automations)

We emphasized the importance of maintaining our "mindset → skillset → toolset" approach and staying "platform-agnostic" (rather than adopting a tech-first mentality) and fostering more of a product mindset (rather than just a project-driven one). 

We also revisited a few learning science principles such spaced and interleaved practice, metacognitive techniques (such as interrogative elaboration), and deliberate practice, and discussed how these (and others) can be simulated and scaled with AI.

And we reinforced why and how learning design, delivery, and coaching must always be evidence-based, learner-centric, performance data-driven, and right tech-enabled.

All of this is critical so we can best support our 55K+ frontline associates, our operational teams, and ultimately our 400+ clients worldwide.
