A post I didn’t think I'd write: This week, I left a networking event with blood on my clothes.

I was sitting in a founder's discussion circle when I felt a sharp sensation. There was no warning. And when I stood up, my heart dropped.

I grabbed a handful of napkins to clean up the small red pool that had collected on the chair and rushed to the nearest bathroom. With a glance, I realized (of course) there were no menstrual products available. 

I eventually told a friend at the event what happened, and she quietly rallied the few women in the room until someone procured a single pad. 

By then, I knew I had to leave. The damage had already been done. I walked out with blood-stained clothes, wishing it didn’t have to be this way.

We stock every workplace with toilet paper, paper towels, and soap without question. But pads and tampons? Too often, they’re treated as a luxury instead of a basic necessity.

Meanwhile, moments like mine happen quietly everywhere. And it's normalized. We swallow the discomfort or pretend it’s "not a big deal."

But it is. It’s about dignity. It’s about being able to participate fully. In work, in community, in conversations that matter.
