After qualifying as a solicitor at Manches (now Penningtons Manches Cooper LLP), I specialized in family law working for several top-ranked law firms in London including Gowling WLG, Druces LLP and LMP before leaving full-time private practice to become a legal consultant and writer on family law matters. I have appeared on television, given evidence on family law to Parliamentary Committees and my comments on legal reform have been published in the press.

I have always been interested in people and client care, service excellence and retention and managing client expectations. I took several courses on understanding the importance of superior service delivery and client care for retention; developing a better understanding of client needs; consideration of the best ways to enhance client perception and to promote engagement; how to share tools, techniques and skills for improving client care and service excellence; promotion of consistent “best practice” to support service excellence and retention.

My personal journey through loss—whether it’s heartbreak, health challenges, or the tragic loss of loved ones—has shaped my ability to support others. As a former family lawyer, I’ve seen firsthand how grief and loss affect individuals, especially during divorce or separation. I even wrote a legal guide, "Fathers Matter," supported by Sir Bob Geldof KBE, to help fathers navigate the grief, loss and pain of being separated from their children.

But my work wasn't just about law. As an employee, I often felt undervalued and unsupported. These experiences now fuel my passion to help organisations create empathetic, supportive workplaces, especially when employees face life’s toughest challenges.
