We lost government contracts in H2 2025 at Vatis Tech.

But we reached break-even anyway. Here's the full breakdown:

During the second half of last year, our governmental contracts stopped renewing. Budget constraints hit hard and MRR dropped for the first time in 5 years.

We adapted fast and tried to recover from private sector, so we doubled down on private customers, especially media monitoring companies. They started growing with us and we recovered the lost revenue.

By end of 2025: 100 customers, €228k ARR (€19k MRR), and €203k in revenue. That's 23% growth year over year.

What kept us going:
- One company switched completely from our $100M VC-backed competitor to us, doubled their spending (€700→€1,400/month)
- Another one is scaling from 7,000 to 10,000 hours per month
- 0% churn from media monitoring companies
- We also launched Brewbrand this year. 30 customers and profitable from month one.
- Our self-service transcription app also grew 15% year over year from €29,106 to €33,337.

The reality is we had to make hard decisions to stay break-even.

Team down to 4 FTE and more contractors.

But in November, we hit break-even. And stayed there.

For 2026: targeting €0.5-€1M ARR while staying profitable. No big team expansion. Just focused growth on what's working.

Still lean. Still profitable. We'll see if we get there.

Developing as a freelancer cross platform mobile apps as well as websites.

Developed 'Scanner Alimente', an app that scans the ingredients on foods and shows a score based on how good or bad they are. It works 100% offline and was showcased at ProTV, ILikeIT. Number 1 in Health & Fitness apps both on Android and iOS for over a week in summer 2024. It has more than 30k monthly users.

Developed Romana BAC, a helpful app providing essays for a National Exam. It was in the top 5 trending educational apps on Google Play Summer 2021 and top 10 educational apps on App Store in 2024. It has more than 3000 monthly active users.

Developed Quizuri BAC Romana, a beautiful app with quizzes for the BAC exam, top 30 educational apps on App Store in 2024.

Developed Drivers Data, a serverless app that uses Firebase, Node.js and Flutter, built for Android and iOS. This cross-platform app has more than 500 monthly users.

Developed custom websites, including a custom blog website for Cosmin Savu, a journalist from 'Romania te iubesc', ProTV.

Played a key role in the development of Tazz direct (LAAS) service, finishing the MVP in under three months. Maintained the Tazz UI-Kit library.

Senior Java Full Stack Engineer

Built in an Agile manner a Taxonomy system, which allows for the dynamic creation of categories and custom attributes for products, for the Machine Learning & Algorithms team.

Aided with the development and extension of a microservice in Spring Boot that orchestrates the automatic dispatching algorithm by creating dispatch cycles with bundled couriers and orders as well as handling dynamic configuration of each city cluster. Reworked the system that sends orders and couriers to the dispatch algorithm to work based on microzones rather than whole cities.

Created the Architecture for a custom access control system following closely the requirements set by the stakeholders, in order to prevent unauthorized access to the database, and managed permissions elevation for users. Coordinated and lead 2 junior developers that built this project, aiding with the implementation of the Spring Boot backend.

Full Stack Engineer

Developed a microservice that tracks KPIs and triggers custom system alerts that prevented loss of data and contributed to the overall improvement of all Tazz applications by providing scheduled reports and alerts on Teams and email. This microservice is highly customizable, written in Python and relies on the Factory and Strategy design patterns, as a new alert could be added to the system with a new JSON config.

Built an Audit system which allows for the inspection of an order, providing details about the client, products and delivery route.

Trained Juniors from Deutsche Bank in Java and Spring Boot and created assignments that are automatically graded by GitHub Classroom using JUnit5 tests.

I am building innovative, user-centric applications that solve real-world problems and constantly challenge me to grow. With a strong foundation in software engineering, I have successfully launched 40+ apps, including the widely popular 'Scanner Alimente.'

'Scanner Alimente' is an app that scans food ingredients and provides a health score, helping users make informed dietary choices. Featured on ProTV ("ILikeIT" and "Doctor de Bine") as well as Euronews, it became the #1 Health & Fitness app on both Android and iOS in summer 2024 and winter 2025, with over 60,000 monthly active users.

In addition to app development, I have taught Java, Spring Boot, and Angular at Deutsche Bank's summer school, and I currently teach Object-Oriented Programming, Software Development Methods, and Data Structures & Algorithms at UPB.
