Bigger TAM ≠ faster revenue growth. 

Yet so many of the SaaS companies I talk to are doing exactly this.

The math seems obvious. 

Bigger audience = more chances to convert

Pipeline is down. Investors are breathing down your neck. The pressure to act is real. Competitors are flying. And before you know it...

You widen your audience.

Executives suggest rewriting the homepage.

Next thing you know it reads:

"The ultimate technology for your business goals"

Your TAM just became every company doing business digitally.

And nobody who lands on your site knows if you can solve their specific problem. So they bounce. And you burn budget wondering why nothing converts.

The fix isn't sexy. But it's simple.

Own one positioning anchor and lead with that. Something like a use case, a workflow, a competitor you're replacing. Nail it and the right people will recognize themselves in your message. 

That's when pipeline starts moving.

People don’t wake up and magically buy your enterprise software off the shelf.

They hear about you from someone they trust. Read your content for a bit. Get retargeted. See your booth at an event. DM with a rep. Someone shares your website in an internal Slack channel. Are one of the 17 people who watched your YouTube video. Recognizes a similar company in one of your case studies. 

Then they realize the need for a solution was actually already present. And now the time is right.

Then, maybe just maybe, they book a call.

If they feel like it.

Here's an easy way to think about whether you should advertise on LinkedIn:

Do you want your potential customers to see your brand and product in their feed on a daily/weekly basis?

If you think that's valuable for your business, then you should explore being active on this channel. Paid or organic. Or both (even better).

If no, keep your money in your pocket.

To be fair, it really isn't that complicated.

Answered yes? Good.

Now think about the size of your audience and how frequently you want to appear in the feed (1 impression every 2-3 days works best). That's a good starting point to calculating your media budget.
