And I stumbled across this interesting podcast about building a challenger brand.

For those of you that aren’t familiar, it’s basically a brand that’s not afraid to be bold.

My kinda podcast. 

About 30 minutes in, Howard talked about how being the underdog fuels him.

And I felt that. 

Because when you're building something without the budget, the brand recognition, or the safety net, you just have to find a way. 

So I clipped it and told my team to do what we do best.

One video on LinkedIn saved my company.

Let's go back to January of 2024.

I was stretched thin, saying yes to everything, and still unsure how to grow.

Then I stumbled on a video by Patricio Londaits.

The title stopped me in my tracks: "What happens when you catch someone suggesting your boss should fire you?"

How could I not click?

I'm glad I did because within seconds, I was hooked.

The pacing. The music. The storytelling.

That two minute video told me everything I needed to know. 

This was one of the most thoughtful and talented editors I'd ever come across.

I couldn’t remember the last time a video on LinkedIn actually got me excited.

A few DMs later, I hired him.

My first real, full-time hire. Big moment for me, and a big gamble for him.

He was betting on a one-man operation that could have gone nowhere. 

But just a few weeks later, we landed Auth0 by Okta.

Funny how that works.

Just like that, it was Patricio and me. 

Side-by-side, creating for one of the most respected brands in security.

Three months into our six-month contract, Patricio had done such a great job that our client asked: "Can we pay you more and extend the contract?"

We still work with them today.

That one opportunity has given us the breathing room to continue growing. 

And we've since grown to a team of 9.

None of that would've been possible without Patricio.

He's not just a great editor. He's a great thinker, storyteller, and partner.

And he’s not shy about calling me out on my BS when I need to hear it.

Every founder needs a Patricio. Someone who makes the work better, the journey lighter, and the impact bigger.

All great videos show some element of transformation, so we knew that’s what we had to do.

Here’s how we communicated that in under 30 seconds. 

From Christina: “We currently are utilizing in our TOF ads, in-person meeting placeholder video before the meetings start, conference booths, in our home office HQ front desk, it's great. Well received from internal staff too.”

In 2010, I was selling noodles in high school.

In 2013, I was selling internet services through network marketing.

In 2015, I was selling hoverboards on Shopify.

In 2017, I started a sales consulting company.

Most of these businesses failed in less than 6 months and barely made any money.

My goal was always to build a business that gives me freedom.

The only problem was that I was a terrible entrepreneur and had no clue what I was doing.

In 2019, I started a career coaching company and made $11,000 in a year.

In 2022, I started consulting entrepreneurs on their LinkedIn strategy.

In 2024, my business generated over $1 million in 12 months.

The truth is that I wasn't really qualified to start any of these businesses.

In fact, I often had friends telling me that the ideas wouldn't work.

But growth comes from doing things you are not qualified to do.

Stop telling yourself you are not qualified enough.

I met a rep that consistently hit over 150% of his quota for 2 years. 

But the company kept cheating him out of commission. 

They also refused to promote him to a better team. 

So he started interviewing and eventually put in his 2 week notice. 

Within 48 hours, his boss told him that they could make the promotion happen. 

This made things even worse because it meant they just didn't want to do it earlier. 

This scenario is still happenings in 2026 for some reason. 

For years, that manager struggled to find another rep with the same level of drive. 

It will always cost you more to replace a great employee than it will cost you to keep them. 

Pay your people what they deserve.

I spent $24,000 on a coaching program last year. 

But I didn’t even finish it.

There was so much information, so many new tactics and endless resources to get through. 

So I found the one thing in the program that I believed would move the needle for my business. 

And I put all my focus into learning and applying that one concept. 

The next month, we had our highest revenue ever!

I've invested more than 6 figures into my own personal development in the last 5 years. 

Although I've only completed ~25% of these programs, the knowledge I've gained has paid off in the long term. 

You can never lose when you invest in yourself.

Because you are your greatest asset.

One of my friends just quit his job after 14 years at the same company. 

For 13 of those years, he loved the bosses he worked under. 

He also got paid a lot of money because he was great at his job. 

Last year, there was a massive re-org at the company and he got a new manager. 

And that manager has made his life hell for the past 9 months. 

↳ Constantly micromanaging his work 
↳ Second-guessing him in front of superiors 
↳ Refusing to approve pre-planned vacations with his family.

On top of that, his new manager refused to put him up for a promotion this year even though his projects have had a significant impact on the company! 

And he has been losing sleep because of all this. 

So after spending almost his entire career at this company, he has finally decided to leave. 

Even though he has nothing else lined up. 

Great employees don't just quit jobs. 

They quit bad managers.

It's impossible to be excellent by mistake. 

Excellence is a choice. 

Having a great attitude is a choice. 

Treating people with respect is a choice. 

And the destinations you end up at are just a summary of your choices. 

So if you want to live a better life in 3 years or 5 years...

Start by making good decisions right now. 

They will change your life.

Don’t forget how far you’ve come.

Giving up is always an option.

But before you do, remind yourself of all the work you’ve done.

And all the progress you’ve made.

I don't know who need to hear this but... 

Keep going! 

It will be worth it.

One of my reps got an insane job offer. 

It was more than double what we were paying her. 

When she told me, my first thought was selfish. 

"We just lost our best salesperson. What do we do?"

But the first words out of my mouth were: 

"You need to take that. I know you want to buy a home."

Then I acted as her reference. 

The worst time to offer a raise is after someone resigns. 

If they are valuable to you, make it clear long before.

And keep the people who genuinely want to stay.

80% of your revenue will come from 20% of your efforts.

80% of your growth will come from 20% of your priorities.

80% of your opportunities will come from 20% of your network.

80% of your audience growth will come from 20% of your content.

Your job is to figure out what the 20% is. 

And double down on what works. 

You don't have to do everything. 

You just have to do the right things.

Last year, I spoke to a guy who quit his $130k job to be an entrepreneur. 

I told him this was a terrible idea. 

He said he had found a business online that would make him rich. 

The truth is that he was probably right. 

But the problem was that he had never even tried to run a business before. 

So he spent a few months "working on the branding". 

And then hired someone to "help shape the go-to-market strategy."

6 months later, we caught up for coffee and I asked: 

"How many potential customers have you spoken to?"

He said, "Oh we're not ready to launch yet so none."

At that point, I knew this idea wasn't going to make it off his laptop. 

And it never did. 

He ran out of money, and his wife made him get another job. 

I've seen this so many times. 

You don't have to quit your full-time job to start building your own business. 

Use your evenings and weekends, post content online and find a problem people want help solving. 

"Go big or go home" is how so many people end up back at home. 

Start small and move quick.

It's easy to get overwhelmed by everything on your plate.

But that's what causes analysis paralysis.

Instead of trying to do everything, just focus on what you can do today.

One job application.

One LinkedIn post.

One outbound message.

You don't have to take it all on at once.

Start small and stay consistent.

I surprised my mom with a car two years ago.

It's a promise I made to her when I was 14 because I knew she loved cars.

In fact she used to street race with her mom! 

And it was one of the most fulfilling moments of my entire life. 

I love building my businesses and my audience. 

But what I'm really passionate about is:

→ Taking good care of my mom
→ Paying my brother's college tuition
→ Taking my dad to watch Arsenal live
→ Traveling around Europe with my sister

Getting the most out of life with the people I love the most. 

A job is a means to an end. 

So is creating a personal brand.

And so is building a profitable business. 

Don't get carried away comparing yourself to people trying to look successful. 

Write down your own definition of success.

Then pursue it relentlessly with everything you've got.

I made $38 an hour working in customer success. 

Then got promoted to a new role making $76 an hour. 

Back then I thought I was living the dream. 

Then it hit me one day. 

If a company is paying me $150k/year to work 40 hours a week.

Then they're probably making $1 million or more on my efforts alone. 

So why not just figure out how to turn my expertise into a business. 

And earn $500k+ while working fewer hours. 

Over the next 10 years, I believe this same revelation will hit millions of people.

Wages will make you a living. 

Profits will make you a fortune.
