I once had investors laugh in my face on national television.

And it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me.

This week, I'm gonna be talking about it on stage in Toronto. 

Quick backstory:

I've started and failed 13 businesses (Ten lost me money, three I walked away from).

I've been rejected more times than I can count.

I've even had people tell me that I wasn't cut out to be an entrepreneur.

To which I'd politely reply "hey listen, f*** you" and be on my way.

Despite all of that, today I'm running A2 Media, the company of my dreams, with the best team I could ask for.

People often ask me what possessed me to keep going.

Honestly? I'm stubborn and I don't like being told what I can and can't do.

But the shorter answer is: I wanted to live life on my own terms.

We're always being told that we need to go to school, get a job, find a partner, buy a house, work a job we hate to pay the bills, retire, and then pass away.

Which is kinda boring, no?

I learned early that I need to do things differently to be happy.

So I've committed my entire life to doing things my own way.

Especially in the way that I run my business.

For example, I don't want to scale to the moon. 

I tried that 13 times and I was never happy.

I just want a business that lets me spend more time with the people I love.

Anyways, I'm gonna be talking about my failures on stage this Thursday.

The magic is all in the editing bb. 

All you have to remember is: if you mess up, stop talking, take a breath, count to one, and say your line again.

(Unless it's a live webinar. Then you probably look stupid and you should give up).

Otherwise, trust your editor to take care of you.

And most importantly, trust yourself.

Them: “Glad the video got us sales, but did it go vira-“

Me:

Me: "I wonder what comes up when I google myself..."

The results:

your buyers aren't googling "best abm platform." they're asking chatgpt "how do i run account-based campaigns with a 2-person team."

that's the shift Sophie Buonassisi, VP of Marketing at GTMfund, broke down when we sat down to talk about what's actually working in geo and aeo right now.

❌ the old model: find the keyword, write the page, rank the page. 

✅ the new reality: buyers ask ai a specific question at a specific point in the funnel. if your content doesn't answer that exact question in a structure llms can parse, you don't exist in the response.

Sophie connects with gtm leaders across every function and stage — and geo keeps coming up. Guy Yalif, who runs evangelism at Webflow after selling his optimization company to them, shared data showing answer engine traffic converting at 24% (touch to purchase) vs. 4% for non-branded organic.

they are driving 80% of their self-serve signups through this channel. 

what stood out to me in our conversation: the practical stuff that most people skip. shifting keyword research into prompt-style queries. structuring pages with clear headings and faq blocks so llms can actually pull answers. building authority through credible mentions and citations across the web because llms are starting to rank those signals hard.

none of this is theoretical anymore. 

the companies doing this work are seeing conversion rates that make everyone else's traffic look like noise.

the question isn’t just “how are buyers finding you anymore”. it’s who is doing the finding.

i recently talked to Sophie Buonassisi, svp of marketing GTMfund about the biggest shifts marketers should be preparing for over the next 12-18 months. 

she broke it into two parts, the second one is the one that should keep you up at night.

shift one is the move from search interfaces to answer and agent-driven discovery systems. instead of typing queries and scanning links, people are asking systems to synthesize and recommend.

shift two is bigger. it’s not just that the discovery system changed. it’s that the person doing the discovering is changing too. right now it’s still mostly human. but sophie’s prediction (and i agree) is that in 12-18 months we’ll see a massive increase in agents doing the seeking on behalf of buyers.

so your audience isn’t just your typical human buyer anymore. it’s a buyer’s agent acting on their behalf.

and that flips content strategy on its head.
