Prior to pivoting into recruiting, I spent 15 years in the ad/marketing industry, leading account management & digital/social strategy at American Express, SIRIUS XM & digital ad agencies in NYC, including VaynerMedia and EP+Co.

At TA Week, I was reminded why I keep showing up to these events year after year. It’s not just the content. It’s the people, the conversations in the hallways outside the ballrooms, the late-night idea exchanges by the campfire, and the real talk about where our industry is headed.

From moderating an incredible panel with Carrie Corbin Kerry Noone & Rebecca Smith SPHR Smith to getting schooled in sourcing by the wizard, Brian Fink, I left inspired and leveled up!

Straight up....fancy dinners and happy hours are fun, but the status quo. Being able to sit outdoors around a campfire, with no pretenses or need to force intros or conversations, was a game-changer.

Is the resume killer finally here?

Something big is about to shift in how talent gets seen.

Tomorrow, a new platform called Talvy launches, built around a simple yet powerful premise:

Since the dawn of time, the professional world has relied on static documents and keyword filters to decide who deserves a conversation. A one-page resume attempting to capture experience, work history, ambition, communication, leadership, and grit. 

Anyone who has ever hired knows how incomplete that picture is.

And we "boomers" are getting old, and there is a new generation in town, and they are video-native.

They grew up communicating through video. TikTok. FaceTime. Instagram Reels. YouTube.

For them, presence, storytelling, energy, and authenticity live on camera in ways text simply can’t capture. So the idea of a video-first professional network obviously makes a ton of sense.

Talvy, led by CEO KJ Hardrict and a founding team of MIT and Harvard alumni, is stepping into the multi-billion-dollar recruiting market with a platform designed to evaluate people the way they actually show up.

As someone who has spent over a decade in recruiting, I’ve always believed the biggest gaps in hiring aren’t about talent supply. They’re about signal detection.

We built hiring systems optimized for scanning documents.

But the future of work may require systems optimized for seeing people. Talvy is betting that video is the bridge.

So the real question now is, if the next generation communicates through video, why are we still hiring through PDFs?

Is the death of the resume within our sights????

All it takes is ONE person to believe in you to light that spark.

And in 2019, that man was Steven Lu.

He built Interseller.io, one of the first ML-powered sourcing and outreach tools. It was acquired a couple of years later by Greenhouse, and the rest is history. 

Steve and I connected, and he believed in what I was building with #thePOZcast  and became my first sponsor. Since I was just starting and didn't have a meaningful number of downloads (like hundreds), I bartered with him for sponsorship in exchange for use of the platform for NHP Talent Group.

The product was amazing and helped me not only improve my sourcing exponentially but also opened my eyes to the world of TA tech.
