Danielle Farage is many things to me: a work friend, a colleague, a collaborator and a co-host on the Purple Acorn HR Morning Show.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you might have to consider a pivot right now.

In this brutal market with so many good folks out of work, making such a hard decision is becoming more of a reality.

And it sucks. 

Let's not sugar coat it. It's a brutal decision to have to consider, accept and then take action on.

But where to start?

👉 I consider myself somewhat of an expert on this, as I had to pivot 11 years ago, and it was hard AF. 

The first step is accepting the fact that pivoting isn't a sign of failure. 
→ Most of the time, the causes are outside of your control. 

The second step is doing a true self-awareness assessment of your strengths, weaknesses, skills, and passions, and finding where the overlap is and focusing on those traits and mapping them to industries and roles.

The third step is taking action. It takes work, like REAL work. Researching deeply into the industries then companies that are hiring for the types of new roles that you are looking for. 

→ Then digging into your network, reaching out for informational interviews, reestablishing contacts and having those conversations that should lead to door opening opportunities. 

And you have to apply, a lot. And accept that there will be a lot of rejection.

BUT KEEP GOING.

* The hardest step is accepting that you might have to take a couple of steps backwards financially and title in an effort to realign to make leaps forward!

Have faith, work your a$$ off and good things will happen! Be open to change and know that it will either be temporary or potentially put you on the trajectory of a new path that will be fulfilling and rewarding! 

Have faith.
