The most underrated thing about LinkedIn?

Your comments can build your confidence.

(As someone who has been commenting since May 2020)

Think about it:

There are 1.3 billion users on LinkedIn.

Only 1% of LinkedIn users post.

13 million users create content.

1.287 billion users are waiting.

Most people are either shy or afraid to comment. I was shy and afraid 5 years ago, too.

But then I started leaving comments. I pushed myself to:

- Think more about the author than myself.
- Focus more on adding value.
- Speak more about my life.

Now, my confidence has increased on LinkedIn.

I'm sharing more when back then, I was afraid.

I met 2 people in person in 2024. Only by leaving comments. Over the summer, I met over 10 people at a NYC meetup this year. Including Jasmin Alic himself.

The bar is low. Leave a comment to step out of your comfort zone.

Do you find it hard to comment on LinkedIn?

Here's what many of us have said this year:

• It's difficult to find the right posts to comment on.
• It's hard to think of the perfect words to say.
• AI comments are overtaking everything.

The main thing I finally learned from 5 years of commenting since May 2020 is this:

Commenting helps you develop your voice and share your opinion with others.

It's 10x easier when you show up as yourself.

So how do you comment?

• I like to read the post. The entire post.
• Then, either answer the P.S. or add my opinion.
• Last, thank the author for taking the time to post.

When you make the author feel "heard," they start to "listen" to you. It's how you build trust, one comment at a time.

Commenting doesn't need AI.
Commenting needs you to be you.

Think of commenting as meeting new people in real life.

This will make commenting effortless.

3 LinkedIn tips you should start doing this December.

(Start 2026 with your brand stronger than ever)

1. If you want to find a job

- Make a list of companies and their employees.
- Comment on their posts (even the company posts).
- Send an email to ask them for a 15-minute call.

2. If you want to grow on LinkedIn

- Find thought leaders you admire and comment on their posts.
- Even small creators. They appreciate your support.
- Find creators with 0 comments you can help.

3. If you want to build relationships

- Write at least 10 DMs to your network to thank them.
- Even if you think no one will read them, send it.
- Send an article and explain why it's important.

Start today to start 2026 strong.

3. Support small creators.

- Check your feed when you start your day. Scroll for posts.
- See low or zero comments on posts? Comment on them.
- Send a DM. Thank them. Ask what time they post.

My challenge to all introverts (this week):

1. Connect with at least 1 person a day.
2. Make a goal to comment on at least 3 posts/day.
3. Support 3 small creators < 5,000 or fewer followers.

People will remember you when you remember them.

Together, let's grow a bigger/better community.
Even if it feels awkward at first, you've got this.

My favorite thing about LinkedIn commenting:

The ability to "continue" the conversation.
↳ Not just "start" the conversation.

Think about it... are your comments just "one and done" or are you actually inviting the other person to say something back? 

Here's 3 easy ways to do it:

1. Ask a question at the end of your comment
2. Include one example + ask for their example
3. Reply to "unanswered" questions from others

Every comment is a new conversation.

As long as you treat them that way.
