In 2018, the APPG on Blockchain will be mainly focused on becoming familiar with Blockchain as a new foundation technology with transformative implications for business and the public sector. Our approach in the first part of the year will be to invite industry stakeholders, entrepreneurs and thought leaders to express their experience, vision and view on particular Blockchain fields – thus offering a framework for the next phase of work continuing into 2019.

The term ‘Blockchain’ is receiving growing attention from industry and technologists on issues ranging from its role as ‘a new internet’ to competition effects, crypto-currencies and contracts as well as supply chain management and fraud. The APPG on Blockchain group will gather evidence illustrating what Blockchain’s opportunities are for the economy, industry and society, and what its potential effects and challenges might be.

In 2019, the APPG on Blockchain will be concerned with building a roadmap to understand the practical steps for both scaling the upsides and addressing the downsides of Blockchain.

The group will prioritise key use cases to explore and, through each Evidence Meeting, aims to generate pragmatic solutions (policy, regulation, industry practice and infrastructure development) with clearly defined steps for how success can be achieved.

A Global provider of business technology and consulting services, I was responsible for pre-sales and sales primarily within the financial services vertical. Day to day I covered retail, commercial and Investment Banking across the UK and Europe but was also asked to help out with blockchain based opportunities within the commodities desk also. Responsible for helping my clients realise opportunities to digitally transform in order to deliver meaningful change for their businesses and their customers, both internally and externally. 

Sapient delivered change that originated from the needs and perspective of the customer, through marketing or through technology. The emerging technologies I had experienced were predominantly focussed on Artificial Intelligence though blockchain became increasingly prevalent, particularly for opportunities across supply chains.

My role in the company was revenue focussed and my revenue numbers were achieved successfully by selling into some of the UK's Tier 1 Investment Banking clients. In my role I was required to think strategically and consider the changing nature of the industry so that I remain relevant to my clients. This involved hosting workshop sessions with clients to uncover current state processes.

During my time there I presented my research on Blockchain at events and meet-ups across the UK and Europe and have been lucky enough to have been invited to speak at such institutions such as Cambridge University and Imperial College to discuss the digitally transformative impact of blockchain and digital assets on businesses across multiple industries.

Fair Finance was a sub-prime secured loan lending-platform providing financial services to the sub-prime market. First through the door, responsible for setting up and structuring the underwriting, sales and marketing functions of the company. 

- Managed 4 call centres across the England, Wales and Scotland.

- Manage the underwriting hand-off journey to credit lenders

The Founder & CEO of Smarter Contracts, a tech company that has built a patented permissions protocol - Pulse. Pulse is designed to give organisations a real-time view over what data they can and can’t do with their customers data. It does this by capturing, securely storing and automating the management of any type of data permission, regardless of the laws and regulations underpinning them. 

Pulse is used by businesses to increase personalisation, the quality of data and to provide governance of their AI models. It also helps increase the trust between their customers and their brand, whilst increasing levels of compliance and standards of efficiency.
